Abstract

1,000,863. Printing on thermoplastic articles. E. BECK. Nov. 3, 1961 [Nov. 5, 1960], No. 39400/61. Heading B6C. The surface of a freshlymoulded thermoplastic article is printed upon whilst the article is still in the mould by a printing insert comprising a dry-colour pack 15 contained in a cavity in a carrier plate 17 located in a recess in the wall of a mould half 16. A screen 18 having printing apertures therein covers the pack 15 and is held in place by a frame 19. The plate 17, pack 15, screen 18 and frame 19 may be detachably mounted in the mould half 16, for example by means of a spring-loaded locking device (not shown), so that when the pack 15 becomes exhausted in use a further insert containing a fresh pack 15 may be readily inserted in the mould. Any combination of colour is possible by appropriate formation of the pack 15.
