Abstract

1,000,627. Floor tiles. S. GAY. May 22 1964 [May 22, 1963], No. 21330/64. Heading E1B. In an interlocking floor tile 14, Fig. 1, which may be used as a plain tile or which may have pile carpet 18 secured thereto, with or without an interposed pad 16, the lower part of the thickness of each edge is provided with projections and recesses as shown in the underside view, Fig. 2, at least one of the projections on each edge having a protuberance 46 to provide a positive interlock with adjacent tiles. The upper part of the thickness of each edge is straight to give the appearance of a tile of rectangular or square shape. A damaged tile may be replaced by springing into position a new tile from which the projections have been removed along two opposite edges.
