REUSABLE BOX FOR TRANSPORTING GOODS Technical field of the invention

The present invention relates to a reusable box for transporting goods. It applies, in particular, to the field of delivery of goods ordered online and to the field of delivery of goods between professionals.

State of the art

The shipping and transport of goods requires the use of a lot of packaging. The majority of them are single-use (e.g.: shipping carton, etc.) or, for return envelopes, dual-use. For example, a delivery of a good by an online sales site includes an external packaging bearing the recipient's address, in which there is packaging from the supplier of the good, which bears a description and references of the good delivered, and elements to complete the internal volume of the external packaging and avoid shocks to the packaging of the good during transport. Without counting the packaging of the good inside the supplier's packaging, this therefore represents disposable packaging whose volume and mass increase the further away from the good delivered. Thus, the ecological footprint of the external packaging is one of the highest in the succession of packaging used. In addition, the addition of a delivery note to the external packaging is generally done in a transparent plastic envelope stuck on this external packaging, or fixed on this packaging with adhesive tape. Thus, even if the external packaging is cellulose-based, for example cardboard, the association of the delivery note is generally based on petroleum products, whose ecological footprint is very harmful because it is single-use.

Finally, the ratio of the duration of use of such packaging to the duration of its manufacture is very low, which means an ecological and economic inefficiency of current boxes for transporting goods.

The present invention proposes, with the implementation of reusable boxes for transporting goods, to avoid throwing away external packaging for the delivery of goods.

The present invention also proposes to provide, in the transport box, a compartment for the delivery note which avoids the need for a disposable, single-use envelope and for gluing this envelope.

The present invention also proposes compartmentalization means which can be for example vertical and/or horizontal of the interior volume of the transport box, to reduce shocks between the different products transported by this box.

The present invention also provides an example of a means of stacking the box with the implementation of inverted relief. These reliefs facilitate the stacking of the box and reduce the risk of falling.

The present invention also proposes means of electronic tracking of each box by associating a bar code and/or an electronic label with the possibility of creating a notch allowing the integration of an electronic label, for example implementing the RFID communication protocol (registered trademark, acronym for RadioFrequency Identification) or NFC (registered trademark, acronym for Near Field Communication).

Detailed description

This description is given without limitation, each characteristic of an embodiment being able to be combined with any other characteristic of any other embodiment in an advantageous manner. It should be noted from now on that the figures are not to scale.

As will be understood from the present description, various inventive concepts may be implemented by one or more methods or devices described herein, several examples of which are provided herein. The actions or steps performed in carrying out the method or device may be ordered in any suitable manner. Accordingly, it is possible to construct embodiments in which the actions or steps are performed in a different order than that illustrated, which may include performing certain acts simultaneously, even if they are presented as sequential acts in the illustrated embodiments.

The term "and/or" as used herein and in the claims is to be understood to mean "either or both" of the elements so conjoined, i.e., elements that are present conjunctively in some instances and disjunctively in other instances. Please note, from now on, that the figures are not to scale.

The terms "lower" and "bottom" refer to what is at the bottom in Figures 1 to 4, 6 to 10, and 13 to 19. The concepts of vertical and height follow from these definitions. A vertical axis H defining an axis of symmetry of the box is shown in Figures 1 and 9. Throughout the description, external is what is outside the volume of the box when it is closed.

Although, throughout the description, a transport box has been shown in the shape of a truncated cone with a rectangular directrix, a rectangular parallelepiped and a cylinder with a circular section, in embodiments not shown this box may take any other shape, for example a cylinder with an oval directrix or a shape dedicated to the transport of a particular object, for example a scientific or musical instrument.

Throughout the description, the term "face" refers to the largest side of the transport box that is not perpendicular to the vertical.

We observe, on the , a transport box 20 comprising:
- a receptacle 21 having an interior volume for housing goods,
- a cover 22 configured to close the receptacle 21.

The material of the receptacle 21 and the material of the cover 22 are preferably opaque to protect the confidentiality of their contents. The receptacle 21 and the cover 22 are made of rot-proof materials, preferably of plastic (preferably of recycled, recyclable or decyclable material) which is rigid and resistant for at least 100 uses, giving it recurring use.

The cover 22 has fixed flaps 24 configured to surround the upper opening of the receptacle 21 preferably over one third of the height. In the variant illustrated in , the cover 26 has foldable flaps 27 to, once folded downwards, surround the upper opening of the receptacle 21 preferably over a third of the height.

A transparent delivery note housing 23 is preferably carried by the receptacle 21. In the embodiments shown in FIGS. 1 to 13 and 19, the delivery note housing is carried by the receptacle. In the embodiments shown in FIGS. 14 to 18, the delivery note housing is carried by the cover. The transparent delivery note housing is configured so that the delivery note is visible from the outside of the box. The external face of the housing is therefore transparent. Thus, the delivery note can be read, by eye or by use of a camera, from the outside of the box 20. In variants, a peelable film is positioned on the transparent external face of the housing, to reduce the risk of scratching.

An embodiment of the delivery note housing 23 is described with reference to FIGS. 3 to 5. The housing 23 is, for example, adapted to contain and retain a delivery note in A5 format (i.e. an A4 format folded in two lengthwise, i.e. 148.5 mm by 210 mm).

We observe, in , the housing 23, provided with a central upper notch 25 whose width corresponds to the width of an adult's finger, to facilitate the manual exit of the delivery note from a zone 31 ( ) of retaining this delivery note in the housing 23. The opening of this retaining zone 31 is at the top of the housing 23. The housing 23 has an external face 30 made of transparent material. The housing 23 also has a location 28 for an electronic label 29.

In Figures 4 and 5, we see the electronic label 29, contained in the body of the housing 23 of the delivery note. The location 28 can be an empty housing in which the electronic label is slid or removed, or be a location in which the electronic label 23 is taken from the mass of the housing 23, during its manufacture. The electronic label can thus be read from outside the transport box 20.

In the embodiments illustrated in Figures 3 to 5, the housing 23 is attached to the receptacle 21, for example by gluing or welding its periphery, with the exception of its upper opening. The housing 23 is made of transparent material, at least for its external part, on the left in . In and 5, the housing 23 of the delivery note is located inside the receptacle 21, which prevents removal of the delivery note until the opening of the box 20, by removal of the cover 22.

Of course, the housing 23 can be located higher on an oblique wall of the receptacle 21, for example at the edge of this receptacle 21, so that the mouth of the zone 31 for retaining the delivery note is directly accessible on the edge of the mouth of the transport box 20.

The cover 22 can be held on the upper opening of the receptacle 21 by at least one strap 32 (see ) and, preferably, by at least two strips 32 or other closing means crossing on the cover 22 or 26 and at the bottom of the receptacle 21.

In addition to each strip 32 or in place of each strip 32, the cover 22 or 26 and the receptacle 21 may be provided with means for locking the cover 22 or 26 on the receptacle 21, for example by clipping, as illustrated in FIGS. 8 and 9, in which the flaps 24 or 27 end in the shape of a hook 34. In correspondence with this hook 34, the receptacle 21 has a blind opening 35 of a shape complementary to that of the hook 34. During the installation of the cover 22 or 26, the flaps 24 or 27 slide on the outside of the lips of the opening of the receptacle 21, as illustrated in FIGS. . To lock the cover 22 or 26 onto the receptacle 21, each hook 34 is inserted into the corresponding blind opening 35, as illustrated in .

In the second embodiment of the transport box object of the invention illustrated in , this box 40 has the same external appearance as box 20 but includes:
- a receptacle 41 having an interior volume for housing goods which can receive a separator 45.
- a cover 22 or 26 configured to close the receptacle 41, similar to the cover 22 or 26.

The receptacle 41 and the cover are made of rot-proof materials. For example, the receptacle 41 and the cover are made of plastic material (preferably recycled, recyclable or decyclable material) that is rigid and resistant for at least 100 uses, giving it recurring use.

This box integrates the delivery note housing system 23 described with regard to the first embodiment of the transport box which is the subject of the invention.

Thus, unlike the box 20, the merchandise receptacle 41 of the box 40 comprises at least one removable interior partition 45. In the embodiment shown, only one removable interior partition 45 is shown. In other embodiments, more than one removable interior partition are positioned at different heights of the receptacle.

To support each removable interior partition 45, a shoulder 44 is formed inside the receptacle 41. In the embodiment shown in , this shoulder 44 is configured to support the entire periphery of the removable interior partition 45, with the exception of at least one notch formed in this periphery to facilitate the removal of the partition 45 by hand, by passing a finger through this notch. The partition 45 is thus supported on practically all of its edges by the shoulder 44. Once in position on this shoulder 44, the partition 45 separates a lower volume of the receptacle 41 and an upper volume of the receptacle 41. Different goods can thus be placed in these compartments, without risk of them colliding with each other during their transport in the box 40.

Vertical partitions can also be added. In order to hold them, a notch in the mass of the box can be made, or two plastic beads can be molded into the mass in order to create a housing allowing a vertical partition to slide in.

To facilitate the transport of a large number of boxes 20 or 40 on a pallet, preferably, the length and width of the cover 22 or 26 are submultiples of the surface area of a standard pallet, for example 80 cm by 120 cm. Preferably, the height of the transport box 20 or 40 is also a submultiple of the height of a standard pallet, for example 170 cm.

Preferably, the upper surface of the lid 22 or 26 and the bottom, i.e. the lower surface, of the receptacle 21 or 41 are non-slip, to reduce the risk of one transport box sliding on another during transport. Preferably, the inner and outer sides of the lid 22 or 26 and of the receptacle 21 or 41 are smooth, to facilitate their stacking when empty and to save space. The receptacles constitute a stack and the lids constitute another stack.

To guide the positioning of one transport box 20 or 40 on another and to further reduce the risks of one transport box 20 or 40 sliding on another, preferably, the upper surface of the cover 22 or 26 and the outer surface of the bottom of the receptacle 21 or 41 are provided with complementary reliefs.

Figures 11 to 13 illustrate an example of such reliefs 50. In these reliefs 50, two pyramidal protruding shapes 51 are positioned on one diagonal of a square, while two re-entrant pyramidal shapes 52, the sides of which have a geometry and a slope similar to those of the protruding pyramidal shapes 51 are positioned on the other diagonal.

Preferably, the pyramidal shapes 51 and 52 have a rounded top, so as not to risk injuring the hands of the handlers. By positioning the relief 50 on the bottom of a receptacle 21 or 41 on the relief 50 of the upper surface of the cover 22 or 26, precise positioning of one transport box on another is ensured. The reliefs 50 can cover almost all of the surfaces, except for a smooth overhang 33 on the cover 22 or 26 and a smooth overhang 36 on the outer surface of the bottom of the receptacle 21 or 41.

The complementary reliefs 50 of the cover 22 or 26 and of the receptacle 21 or 41 are positioned vertically to each other to fit together when boxes are superimposed. Two contiguous reliefs 50 are spaced apart by a gutter allowing the housing of a strip 32.

The third embodiment of the transport box which is the subject of the present invention, illustrated in Figures 14 to 17, is more particularly suitable for transporting pizzas or any other prepared dish. The transport box 60 is shown in perspective in , in closed configuration and in , in open configuration. The box 60 is made up of two independent parts: the cover 62 and the receptacle 61, made up of a flat bottom and four edges 65. The cover 62 includes a housing 63 for a delivery note and a location 69 for an electronic label. The cover 62 has flaps 64 which surround the edges 65 of the receptacle 61 from the outside and lock by clipping onto this receptacle 61, as illustrated in FIGS. 16 and 17.

For this purpose, four legs 66, foldable relative to the flaps 64 of the cover 62, are positioned in the middle and on the lower edge of these flaps 64. These legs 66 end in the shape of a hook 67. The outer and lower surface of the flat bottom of the receptacle 61 has hooks 68 of a shape complementary to the hooks 67.

The material of the cover 62 and the receptacle 61 is made of a plastic or other material identical to the other embodiments. This embodiment can also be made of thermal insulating material, to maintain the temperature of the transported dish. The receptacle 61 can, moreover, comprise vertical partitions to separate different dishes, for example a hamburger, fries, a dessert and sachets of sauces.

The third embodiment of the transport box has rectangular openings 70 allowing the evacuation of condensation, thus preventing a pizza from softening, for example.

We observe, in , a fourth embodiment of the transport box which is the subject of the invention. This box 80 comprises a receptacle 81 and a cover 82. The cover 82 is provided with a housing 83 for a delivery note. The delivery note housing 83 is similar to the delivery note housing 23 illustrated in , but curved. The housing 83 thus comprises a zone 86 for retaining this delivery note in the housing 83, and a central notch 87 whose width corresponds to the width of an adult's finger to facilitate the manual removal of the delivery note from the housing 83. The housing 83 also comprises a location for an electronic label 89. The housing 83 has an external face made of transparent material.

The cover 82 locks onto the receptacle 81 by clipping using hooks 84 and 85, respectively formed on the edges of the cover 82 and on the outer surface of the receptacle 81. The transport box 80 is particularly suitable for transporting rolls or goods of generally cylindrical shape.

We observe, in , a fifth embodiment of the transport box which is the subject of the invention. This box 90 comprises a receptacle 91 and a cover 92. The receptacle 91 is provided with a housing 93 for a delivery note. The cover 92 locks onto the receptacle 91 by screwing or by clipping (not shown) similar to the clipping already described. The transport box 90 is, in particular, suitable for transporting rolls or goods of generally elongated shape.

The technical characteristics described for each embodiment of the box that is the subject of the invention are combined with those of all the other embodiments. For example, the boxes 20, 40, 60 and 80 may include hinges connecting, in a pivot connection, their covers and their receptacles. According to another example of a combination of technical characteristics, the transport boxes 60, 80 and 90 may include at least one removable internal partition, possibly supported by an internal shoulder. In addition, the transport boxes 60, 80 and 90 may include centering reliefs to prevent their relative movements. The centering reliefs may be adapted according to the shape of the box. For example, the cover 91 and the receptacle 92 may be provided with cylindrical reliefs adapted to the shape of the box. The centering reliefs are not limited to the example shown in the figures. The 60, 80 and 90 transport boxes can also be closed with straps.

In optional embodiments, the transport box further comprises a non-removable label without destruction bearing a code visible from the outside of the box. This visible code, for example a bar code or a QR code, can be associated with the box to track it throughout its period of use. It can also be subject to rapid routing in a sorting center.

To facilitate the stacking of the transport boxes which are the subject of the invention, preferably, the geometry of the receptacles of these boxes is configured so that more than half of the volume of the receptacle of one box can fit into the receptacle of another identical box, these two boxes being in translation relative to each other. Frustum-cone-shaped geometries, such as those of boxes 20 and 40, ensure such compactness of stacking of the boxes.

To facilitate the storage of boxes and the selection of a box according to the volume of goods to be placed there before transport, preferably,

These transport boxes may bear a colored indicator representative of their dimensions. Thus, boxes of the same dimensions bear an indicator of the same color and boxes of which at least one dimension is different bear indicators of different colors. For example, the color of the opaque part of the receptacle and the lid constitutes this colored indicator.

Other features and advantages of embodiments of the present invention are given below.

The integration of an electronic label (for example RFID or NFC type) allows tracking, security of the package and monitoring of customer consumption (loyalty for example, etc.).

The reusable box that is the subject of the invention is designed for optimal use in industry and trade in B to B (acronym for business to business, for between companies) and B to C (acronym for business to consumer), therefore adaptable in its shapes, dimensions and constraints. Thus, a single box can be used in all areas of activity that require a box (for example, cardboard).

After its first use, this box is collected, redistributed and finally reused. In addition to being reusable, the box is recyclable or decyclable.

Although it can be derived from petroleum products, the carbon footprint of the transport box is reduced. Indeed, a box that can be reused 99 times avoids the production of 99 cardboard boxes, 99 disposals of the cardboard box in the recycling center in the best case or in the garbage bin most of the time. The energy consumption for the production of the 99 single-use cardboard boxes as well as their transport to the various users from the production plant is avoided by the simple use of a reusable box.

The object of the invention saves raw materials, energy, transport and implementation time by logistics operators.

The design of the box also aims at the interest of an individual to keep it for storage. Among the characteristics of the transport box object of the invention which ensure its ease of use:
- They are already assembled, which saves logistical time,
- They can have a unique color system per format facilitating their use, storage and renewal, and
- They can be stacked, which saves space.
- In addition to the applications given, as examples, in the preceding description, the invention also aims to replace:
- Wooden oyster baskets,
- Paper envelopes, in different formats, allowing you to send a single sheet or a larger file. Etc.

The present invention aims to remedy all or part of the drawbacks of the prior art. To this end, according to a first aspect, the present invention aims at a reusable box for transporting goods, which comprises:
- a receptacle with an interior volume to accommodate these goods,
- a cover configured to close the receptacle,

this receptacle and this cover being made of rot-proof materials and

this receptacle or cover comprising a transparent housing for the delivery note configured so that the delivery note is visible from the outside of the box.

Thanks to these provisions, the box which is the subject of the invention is reusable, which makes it possible to multiply, for example by a hundred, the number of deliveries of goods which can be made by transporting goods in this box.

In optional embodiments, the receptacle or cover comprises a delivery note housing whose access opening to a delivery note retention area is only accessible from inside the box when the latter is closed, this housing comprising a transparent wall on an external face of the box.

Thanks to these provisions, the delivery note cannot be removed before the transport box is opened but it can be read from outside the transport box.

In optional embodiments, the receptacle material and the lid material are opaque.

Thanks to these provisions, the contents of the box are hidden and thus protected from the harmful effects of light and the risk of theft.

In optional embodiments, the cargo receptacle includes at least one removable interior partition and the receptacle includes, within its interior volume, a shoulder configured to support a removable interior partition.

Thanks to these provisions, the goods can be separated in such a way as to reduce the risk of them colliding with each other during transport.

In optional embodiments, the transport box further comprises an electronic tag.

Thanks to these provisions, the transport box can be tracked by remote reading throughout its entire period of use. It can also be quickly redirected to a sorting center.

In optional embodiments, the length and width of the cover are submultiples of the area of a standard pallet.

Thanks to these arrangements, a whole number of transport boxes can cover the surface of a pallet, so as to optimize the loading of the boxes on the pallets.

In optional embodiments, the transport box comprises, on the upper face of the cover and on the lower face of the receptacle, complementary reliefs positioned vertically to each other when the receptacle of the box is closed by the cover.

Thus, the reliefs of two identical boxes placed one on top of the other fit together, ensuring perfect positioning when stacked, and reducing the risk of one box slipping onto the other.

In optional embodiments, the cover and the receptacle together comprise means for locking the cover to the receptacle.

This allows the boxes to be locked for transport without the risk of the lid separating from the receptacle. Optionally, at least one strap surrounds the receptacle and the lid.

According to a second aspect, the present invention relates to a set of identical transport boxes which are the subject of the present invention, in which the geometry of the receptacles of the boxes is configured so that more than half of the volume of the receptacle of one box can fit into the receptacle of the other box, these two boxes being in translation relative to each other.

In embodiments, these transport boxes carry a colored indicator representative of their dimensions, boxes of the same dimensions carrying an indicator of the same color and boxes of which at least one dimension is different carrying indicators of different colors.

The advantages, aims and particular characteristics of this set of transport boxes being similar to those of the transport box which is the subject of the invention, they are not recalled here.

Claims (10)

Reusable box (20, 40, 60, 80, 90) for transporting goods, characterized in that it comprises:
- a receptacle (21, 41, 61, 81, 91) having an interior volume for housing these goods,
- a cover (22, 26, 62, 82, 92) configured to close the receptacle,
this receptacle and this cover being made of rot-proof materials, and
this receptacle or cover comprising a transparent delivery note housing (23, 63, 83, 93) configured so that the delivery note is visible from the outside of the box. Transport box (20, 40, 60, 80, 90) according to claim 1, in which the receptacle or the cover comprises a delivery note housing (23, 63, 83, 93) whose access opening to a delivery note retention zone (31, 86) is only accessible from the inside of the box when the latter is closed, this housing comprising a transparent wall on an external face of the box. Transport box (20, 40, 60, 80, 90) according to one of claims 1 or 2, in which the material of the receptacle (21, 41, 61, 81, 91) and the material of the cover (22, 26, 62, 82, 92) are opaque. Transport box (40) according to one of claims 1 to 3, in which the goods receptacle (41) comprises at least one removable interior partition (45) and the receptacle comprises, in its interior volume, a shoulder (44) configured to support a removable interior partition.
