Appareil (2) électroménager comportant une base (1) génératrice de vapeur et un circuit de distribution de vapeur comprenant un outil de repassage et/ou défroissage (2) relié à la base (1) par un conduit de vapeur (31), la base (1) comprenant un réservoir (10), une cuve (12) pour la génération de vapeur sous pression, et un circuit d’alimentation comprenant une pompe (14) alimentant en eau sous pression la cuve (12) à partir d’eau contenue dans le réservoir (10), le circuit d’alimentation comportant, en aval de la pompe (14), un circuit de dérivation (17) dérivant une partie de l’eau issue de la pompe (14) vers un espace ouvert à la pression atmosphérique pour faciliter l’amorçage de la pompe (12), caractérisé en ce que le circuit dérivation (17) débouche directement dans le circuit de distribution de vapeur.
