Dispositif et procédé de conversion de composés aromatiques, comprenant/utilisant : une unité de séparation des xylènes adaptée pour traiter une coupe comprenant des xylènes et de l’éthylbenzène (24) et produire un extrait comprenant du paraxylène (39) et un raffinat (40) ; une unité d’isomérisation (11) adaptée pour traiter le raffinat et produire un isomérat (42) enrichi en paraxylène envoyé vers un train de fractionnement (4-6) ; une section réactionnelle d’alkylation (13) adaptée pour traiter une coupe comprenant du toluène (23) avec une source de CO (30) et produire un effluent d’alkylation (31) comprenant du paratolualdéhyde ; et une section réactionnelle d’hydrogénation (14) adaptée pour traiter au moins une partie de l’effluent d’alkylation (31) comprenant du paratolualdéhyde et produire un effluent d’hydrogénation (34) comprenant du paraxylène envoyé vers l’unité de séparation des xylènes.
