L'invention concerne également le procédé d'utilisation d'un tel dispositif. Dans une version préférée de l'invention, le dispositif est appliqué au contrôle du sertissage des deux extrémités du fil de gâche, d'une gâche d'ouvrant d'un véhicule automobile, chacune de ces deux extrémités étant engagée dans un trou réalisé dans un support. Dans cette application, le dispositif comprend deux capteurs inductifs fixés sur un support commun, ledit moyen permettant de placer l'ensemble fil de gâche et support de ce fil, dans une position prédéterminée et répétitive sur ledit support commun, de telle sorte que les deux extrémités du fil de gâche soient situées chacune en regard de l'un des deux capteurs inductifs.
