Abstract
The method involves performing propagation calculations by a propagation model considering a non-linear interaction between optical signals (S0), and obtaining a transmission quality parameter of the signals. The parameter is obtained from results of propagation calculations, and is stored in association with a characterization of a path and a characterization of a statistical rule for changing nearby optical signals (S1) in a data storing device. The nearby signals are changed between homogeneous and identical segments (21-23) comprising a change of digital contents of the nearby signal. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for determining an estimation of a transmission quality in a photonic transmission system (2) a method for forming estimator of a change of nearby signals of a carrier wavelength in a photonic transmission system (3) a method for determining a rate of change of nearby optical signals by changing a segment for making photonic connection.
