Abstract

The head-rest (1) has a cushion (3) movably mounted with respect to an armature (2) between forward and reverse positions. Lateral supports (4) are fixedly mounted with respect to the armature on both sides of the cushion. Description

The invention relates to a motor vehicle headrest.

  It is known, in particular from document FR-2 747 349, to provide a motor vehicle headrest comprising a mounting frame on a backrest, a cushion mounted movably, in particular in rotation, with respect to said armature, between an advanced position and a remote position.

  Such headrest allows in particular to adjust the position of the cushion relative to the user's head, the retracted position corresponding in particular to a rest configuration of the passenger.

  However, in such a rest position, the passenger does not have a lateral support for his head, which causes discomfort of the headrest.

  The invention aims to overcome this disadvantage.

  For this purpose, the invention proposes a motor vehicle headrest comprising a mounting frame on a backrest, a cushion mounted movable relative to said frame, between an advanced position and a retracted position, said headrest further comprising two lateral supports mounted fixed relative to said armature on either side of said cushion, the bearing surface of said cushion being substantially in the extension of the front edges of said lateral supports in advanced position and set back from said front edges in the retracted position of so that said supports protrude from said cushion.

  In this description, the positioning terms in the space (lower, transverse, lateral, advanced, recessed, longitudinal, ...) are taken in reference to the headrest disposed in the vehicle.

  The arrangement proposed by the invention thus provides a configurable headrest between an arousal configuration, where the lateral supports are in the extension of the cushion and therefore not usable, and a rest configuration where the lateral supports are salient to the cushion so that they can be used.

  In variants not shown, the cushion 3 can be rotatably mounted according to a transverse axis disposed near its lower edge, or mounted in longitudinal translation. According to the embodiment of FIG. 2, the lateral supports 4 are connected by a transverse lower spacer 8 so as to form a general U-shaped support, the front edge 9 of said spacer being substantially in line with the front edges 6 of said lateral supports. so as to form protruding nape support when the cushion 3 is in the retracted position.

  In a manner not shown, the headrest 1 may comprise cushion adjustment means 3 in intermediate positions between the forward and backward positions.

  The locking means may be arranged to be deactivatable under the effect of a threshold force applied rearwardly on the cushion 3, the headrest 1 comprising an energy absorption means activated during the deactivation of said locking means, so as to allow a controlled deceleration of the passenger's head.

  In a manner not shown, the headrest 1 may comprise means for projecting the cushion 3 towards the advanced position when it is in the retracted position, said projection means being intended to be activated by a collision detection means. of the vehicle.
