Abstract

The head-rest (1) has a cushion (3) movably mounted with respect to an armature (2) between forward and reverse positions. Lateral supports (4) are fixedly mounted with respect to the armature on both sides of the cushion. The cushion has a support surface (5) placed in an extension of front edges (6) of the supports in the forward position. The surface retracts from the edges in the reverse position such that the supports are projected with respect to the cushion. A moving unit activated by a collision detection unit and moves the cushion towards the forward position.
