Abstract

The device has self gripping straps (4) adhered to self-gripping bands (3) fixed on edge of slats to maintain body parts. Boards (1, 2) are joined by a hinge (6) actuated by a strap (7) fixed on a board (1) for passing in a buckle fixed to an end of another board (9). Complementary self-gripping bands (10) seize an end of a part of the fingers using a lasso band (11) as well as ballast elements destined to be hooked to the boards to associate the positioning of shoulder, elbow and fingers in stretching positions by associating articular decompression tractions at same articulations.

Description

Current devices, used in occupational therapy or physiotherapy that are used for bodybuilding, stretching or recovery of the articular amplitudes can maintain a spacing or a position of flexion or extension in the fingers. Even when they resort to elastic systems, they only serve to introduce a certain softness in the forced gain of amplitude. This type of material does not take into account the counter-tension reaction that occurs during muscle stretching and causes hyper pressure in the joints concerned. In addition they are intended for local work, either fingers, wrist, elbow or shoulder.

25 30 15 35  There is therefore a lack of an apparatus which makes it possible to relax the fingers and to stretch the muscles of the upper extremity muscle chains by respecting the principle of the stretching muscle in joint decompression. The device according to the invention makes it possible to remedy these drawbacks. . It is constituted in fact, according to a first feature, a small vertical board (1) which serves to position the forearm and another horizontal (2) which serves to position the hand. Velcro straps (4) which adhere to the self-gripping strips (3) attached to the edge of the boards allow the maintenance of body parts. The two boards are united by a hinge (6) and by a strap (7) riveted (8) at the end of a board and sliding in a loop (9) fixed on the end of the other, so that the adjustment of the strap will determine the range of the wrist. Hooks attached to the edges of the boards allow hooking of the weights that provide the pressure of decompression of the shoulder and a rotary component with a lateral weight. A set of self-gripping tapes (10) for gripping the fingertips allows decompression pulling of the phalanges. Thus the device allows to associate a positioning of the shoulder, elbow and fingers in stretching positions while associating joint decompression tractions at these same joints. -2- According to particular embodiments: - damping foams placed under a washable cover fabric improves the comfort of the supports. - The simple hinge can be replaced by a sliding hinge attached to the second board, but engaged in the first board in a sliding space against a spring which allows to further introduce the decompression component at the wrist. - Replacing the hinge and adjustment strap with a variable spring hinge and a resistance angular force measuring system can help to quantify the progression more finely. - buckles or slits back to the edges of the boards can better tighten the self-gripping fastening straps .. - lasso strips, cross-woven tubular fabrics, sleeves or adhesive strips can be used to adjust the means of attachment of the fingers to variations of anatomical forms and sensitivity. - The device of the invention can be reduced for use solely for the shoulder by removing the finger attachment system which also reduces the size of the second board. The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention: FIG. 1 represents the device of the invention, from the front. FIG. 2 represents the device of the invention, in profile, in one of its practical uses, here in the so-called opening position, putting all the joints in extension. With reference to these drawings, and by way of example the device consists of a first board (1) of about 25 centimeters by 10 centimeters and a second board (2) of about 30 centimeters by 30 centimeters and 2 centimeters thick, provided on their edges and one of their face with self-gripping strips (3) associated with self-gripping holding straps (4) and having hooks (5) at various locations on their edges for fixing weights or a pull strap. The two boards are connected by a hinge (6) actuated by a strap (7) of adjustable length, from the top of the first board (8) and into a loop fixed in the middle of the end of the second board ( 9). The 5 complementary gripping strips (1 0) -3-intended to grip the fingers are here represented in the form of lasso strips (1 1). The overall effect of the device consists, once the forearm and the hand are fixed. by the self-gripping strips, to decompress the joints of the fingers by the tensioning of the self-gripping strips, then to adjust the angle of the wrist to put the muscles in tension and to complete by the installation of weighting intended as much to decompress the shoulder than to direct the rotation of it or increase the tension in the muscles of the hands and the forearm. The invention thus relates to a device for softening the muscles of the upper limb in the path of its muscle chains, anterior and posterior, by associating a particularly important joint decompression component in case of osteoarthritis or other joint diseases, but also during sports exercises or simple physiotherapy designed to improve the flexibility of healthy joints. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for fitness rooms and physiotherapy cabinets, rehabilitation establishments and physical and rehabilitation medicine cabinets, but also for the general public as part of home-based exercises or sports practices in association. 25 30 15 35
