Abstract

The device has a case provided with three slides in which processing pads (3) are introduced for arranging two inlets on two levels, or four channels in a width of the device. The case is fixed on a front face of a beehive for communicating the inlets of the case with the beehive. The pads delimit four channels whose heights of a passage are calibrated based on the function of morphology of bee race.

Description

Varroa destructor, the most widespread parasite, is traditionally treated in the heart of the hive, which causes stress and damage to the integrity of the entire colony. The health of the larvae, bees and queen is weakened. The queens in particular, who receive several seasons of treatment, disappear more and more often in the spring, after a shorter life. The device according to the invention makes it possible to minimize these side effects by a more targeted treatment and less stress. It comprises in fact, according to a first feature, a housing which is fixed on the outside and on the front of the hive, in communication with the flight hole. The second characteristic relates to the internal constitution of this housing, formed of channels through which the bees will pass by grazing the walls. The final passage is calibrated according to the morphology of the bee race (between 6 and 9 mm). The bees pass obligatorily on the top or the bottom of the plates so that they are in contact of the product by their paws and their backs. Only adult bees regularly come out of the hive; they will therefore be the only vectors of distribution of the treatment product in the colony. Observation has shown us that bees pass indifferently to the place or upside down in the channels. Another feature of this device: placed like an airlock at the entrance of the hive and supplemented by a kind of footbath, it can avoid reinfestation. It is best to avoid pest entry rather than treat after contamination. It should be noted that the implementation of the treatment is very fast and does not require the opening of the hive. The housing may have a variable number of channels. As a non-limiting example, it has as dimensions: length 38 cm, width 12 cm, height 5 cm. The width is always related to the opening of the hive. The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention. FIG. 1 represents a cavalier perspective of the device with its two output plates. Figure 2 shows the block diagram of the invention. Figure 3 shows the frontal photograph of the device with the two plates partially out. Figure 4 shows the photograph of the device with the open inputs of the plates. Figure 5 shows the photograph of three kinds of platelets. With reference to these drawings and photos, the device comprises: a housing (1), provided with three slides (2), two treatment boards (3 and 4), a base (5), a top ( 6), three reinforcements (7), a mounting plate (8), two fixing screws (9).

According to a variant not shown, the device may comprise a larger number of channels horizontally and / or vertically; according to a second variant, the fixing screws (9) can pass through a hole-shaped eyecup to facilitate the installation or removal of the device. According to a third variant, the plates (3 and 4) can be held in place by a spring or any other device. According to a fourth variant, it is possible to place an awning above the housing to protect it from the weather. Embodiment: The casing may be made in a single injection molding operation or, for example, in two phases: manufacture of the injected plastic slides (2), and then gluing assembly of the other elements cut beforehand. The device can also be made of wood. Industrial application: The invention is susceptible of significant industrial application. Indeed, this single parasite, the verroa destructor mite, is widespread worldwide. This represents for France alone 1,350,000 contaminated hives, and for the Europe of the five around 7,000,000. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for the treatment of the varroa destructor mite, but it can serve as a support for other health actions.
