Abstract

The steam iron with a scaling indicator comprises a radiator (3) having a vaporization chamber (30), where the radiator has electrical resistance heater (31) whose operation is controlled by a thermostat (6) equipped with unit used to count the number of cycles of opening or closing of the thermostat. The scaling indicator is activated depending on the number of thermostat cycles. A cord is used to connect with electrical network supply and unit to count the number of connection and disconnection of the cord. The electrical network supply is used to determine the number of pressing cycles. The steam iron with a scaling indicator comprises a radiator (3) having a vaporization chamber (30), where the radiator has electrical resistance heater (31) whose operation is controlled by a thermostat (6) equipped with unit used to count the number of cycles of opening or closing of the thermostat. The scaling indicator is activated depending on the number of thermostat cycles. A cord is used to connect with electrical network supply and unit to count the number of connection and disconnection of the cord. The electrical network supply is used to determine the number of pressing cycles. The scaling indicator is activated by cumulative number of thermostat cycles and the cumulative number of pressing cycles. The scaling indicator is activated when the number of cumulated cycles of the thermostat exceeds a predetermined threshold. The number of sessions of pressing is higher than a given value. A unit is used to count the number of cycles of closing or opening the thermostat integrated in an electronic circuit commanding the activation of the scaling indicator. The electronic circuit receives the thermostat information relative to its closing and/or opening. The electronic circuit has a non-volatile memory in which the stored information is relative to the cumulative number of thermostat cycles and/or pressing cycles. The activation threshold of the scaling indicator is modulated to a degree of hardness of water introduced in the vaporization chamber, which is specified by the user. A knob enables the activation when the scaling indicator is activated by resetting the calculation of consumed electric power. The knob comprises self-cleaning knob causing the sudden arrival of a large amount of water into the vaporization chamber.
