Abstract

When the point or contact surface 1 undergoes tens of thousands of lateral movements, it is worn by the enamel of the adjacent natural tooth, and much faster when it comes to metal or ceramic. The object of the invention aims to replace the point or the composite contact surface in place of the latter. The point device or contact surface is characterized in that it has the shape of a six-sided polyhedron. The front face 2 polished ensures contact with the adjacent tooth, this face is rectangular with rounded corners 3. The rear face 4 is smaller with rounded corners 3. The front face 2 and the front face 4 are connected by the faces 5.6 and 7.8. The face 5 has a retention groove 9 which extends on the faces 7 and 8.

Description

DuThe device which is the subject of the invention is intended for the dental prosthesis. Of

Les reconstitutions coronaires, qu'elles soient totales (couronnes) ou partielles (inlays et onlays), doivent satisfaire à cette obligation de point ou de surface de contact.  convexity of the adjacent faces of the teeth on the dental arch, the teeth touch at a point called point of contact D. This point of contact more or less tight prevents food from settling between the teeth and is propelled during chewing on both sides, thus protecting the underlying dental papilla. This point of contact evolves with age into a contact surface. This surface is wider than it is tall. When the point or the surface of contact disappears on one or the two adjacent teeth, the food settles between the two teeth, causing a food jam: this stuffing progressively destroys the papilla, the underlying bone and favors the appearance of proximal caries. Coronal reconstructions, whether total (crowns) or partial (inlays and onlays), must satisfy this obligation of point or surface of contact.

The invention of composite materials has made it possible to produce inlays and onlays which, because of their aesthetics and the quality of their gluing, are increasingly replacing the indications of metallic inlays and onlays. The natural teeth being held by ligaments behave like nonunions allowing slight movements during mastication: these movements ensure the self-cleaning of the point or the contact surface. The composite inlays or onlays protected on their occlusal surface by the natural enamel which circumscribes them thus undergo a low abrasion. This is not the case with the contact with the adjacent tooth.

As a result of hundreds of thousands of small lateral movements, these contacts wear out when they are opposed to natural enamel and much more quickly when it comes to ceramic or metal. The object of the invention is to prevent the wear of the point or the contact surface of the inlay or onlay but also to have no aggressiveness vis-à-vis the point or contact surface of the crown of the adjacent tooth, whether natural, metallic or composite. This point device or contact surface is placed in the composite inlay or onlay at a level which is generally at the anterior and upper third of the tooth.

The description which follows is only some embodiments of the device object of the invention. In this description and the corresponding drawings, the same elements will be identified by the same numbers. FIG. 1 is an overall view of the point device or contact surface 1.

This drawing represents a polyhedron with six faces: a polished front face 2 ensuring contact with the adjacent tooth 12. This face is rectangular with rounded corners 3. The rear face 4, smaller and rectangular, also has rounded corners 3. The front faces 2 and 4 are connected by the faces 5,6 and 7,8.

The face 5 has a retention groove 9 located near the face 4 and which extends slightly on the faces 5 and 7. The device is made of sapphire. FIG. 2 is a median sagittal section passing through the longitudinal axis of the face 2 along AB. We distinguish the front face 2, the rear face 4, the side face 6, the side face 5 which has a retention groove 9.

Figure 3 shows a raised face 2 of a lenticular volume 10 necessary in some cases to obtain a contact point and not a contact surface. Figure 4 is a vertical sectional view of two adjacent teeth 11 and 12. The tooth 11 has a composite inlay 13 in which the device 1 is placed in contact with the tooth 12 by its face 2. The cut passes through the axis Sagittal median device 1. The retention of the device 1 is provided by the retention groove 9.
