Abstract

The support assembly for a supple banner (4) attached e.g. to a vertical post or wall consists of a rod (5) passed through sleeves (6, 7) in the sides of the banner and are attached to a horizontal arm (3) by straps (10) with press stud fastenings. The banner itself is also attached to the arm by straps (16) or hooks that prevent it from sliding down the rod, which can be made from linked segments to make a required shape. The arm can be made of adjustable length with springs (14) or rings between the straps to hold them at the required spacing.

Banner support Preamble The present invention relates to a device

  for supporting a vertical flexible panel of the banner type made of canvas or any other equivalent material which constantly ensures the tension of the canvas or any other equivalent material, which prevents the formation of folds, which generates less wind resistance therefore weaker efforts and weaker

  vibrations on the support and all this for a wide variety of hanging panels.

  * io State of the art This type of medium is often used in the field of advertising. The principle is to make carry by a vertical mast, a pole, a lamppost or to fix on the vertical wall of a wall, a bracket to which is suspended the upper edge of the banner.   The most recent achievements use elastic systems between the support of the banner and the mast, the pole, the lamppost or other equivalent object. In order to reduce the vibrations caused by the actions of the wind, certain assemblies use supports chosen for their damping quality.

  One of the aims is to maintain the legibility of the inscriptions or other pictorial information carried by the banner as often as possible. However, this first aim must not generate excessive forces or vibrations on the mast, the pole, the lamp post or other equivalent object which could cause disorders either by rupture or conventional deformation or by resonance rupture or deformation. Indeed the wind flows by forming alternating whirlwinds which are particularly harmful because the slender structures such as the mast, pole, lamppost or other equivalent object are very

sensitive to this type of excitement.

  All the devices which make it possible to limit the forces of the wind work by deformation of elastic materials such as spring steels, rubbers or materials which fulfill the same function. The oscillations generated by the vortices cause the ruin by fatigue of these elastic damping or non-damping parts.

  In addition, the readability of the panel is not permanently ensured because its horizontal tension

  Known embodiments only support one horizontal banner dimension and only one vertical dimension apart from long and often perilous adjustments.

  Disadvantages of current solutions In current embodiments, the positioning or renewal of the banner is relatively difficult, particularly when the installation is carried out at a significant height. In addition, the tension of the canvas is often directly related to the support the change of

  Finally, some support requires several fixings on the mat, the wall or any other equivalent element.

New system descriptions

  The object of the present invention is to remedy the above drawbacks. It retains the advantages of other systems and improves the quality of information presentation on 25 windy days. The present invention makes it possible, from the same bracket, to hang banners of the most diverse dimensions and shapes as well as made-up canvases

in different ways.

  The banner is stiffened by a rod, flexible or not, which is fixed to a bracket via straps. To prevent the banner from sliding on the rod, it is held by one or more suspenders.

  The description of an embodiment will allow, on an example, to better

  understand the constitution of the invention and its use.

  To fix the ideas, without this being limiting in any way of the scope of the invention, it will be considered hereinafter that the banner is based on canvas like the

advertising tarpaulins.

  The description of the assembly which is the subject of the invention will be based on FIGS. 1 to 13.

  Figure 1-a shows an embodiment of the invention with a bracket, consisting of a vertical plate (2) to which is attached a horizontal arm (3). The fixing of the plate on its support (1) can be carried out, as in the figure, using collars or straps but also by any other means such as bolts, keys ... Similarly the connection between the plate and the horizontal arm can be produced in various ways such as welding, screwing or any other equivalent method.

  The rod (5) is inserted in the sleeves (6) and (7) arranged in the banner (4) which is represented in broken line in the figure 1-a. These sleeves can be obtained by gluing, sewing or any other equivalent process. This point is detailed below. The rod (5) can be produced in several assembled segments as on the figure 1-a, but a variant of the invention uses a rod in a single piece.

  The rod in several pieces is formed of shorter segments therefore easier to package for shipping. In addition, it is then easy to use one or more flexible segments for the curved part and more rigid segments for the straight parts.

  When the rod is in several segments it is possible to change, add or remove certain segments to adapt to different dimensions or shapes of banners.

  Sleeves (8) and (9) are fixed to the upper ends of the rod by crimping, gluing, screwing or any other equivalent process. Advantageously, these sleeves can be replaced by shaping the end of the rod by flattening, pushing back or any other equivalent method.

  Each strap (10) and (11) surrounds the tube (3) and is reattached on itself using a clip or a snap-type closure which passes through a hole provided for this effect respectively in the sleeves (8) and (9). The detail of this closure is represented on the figure 1-b on which it is easy to distinguish the guard which is provided 30 in the closure for the part (9). Advantageously and as represented on the figure 2-b, the straps (10) and (11) can be provided with two closing systems. The first system is used to form the sleeve that surrounds the tube. This first system can be of permanent closure of the rivet type or semi-final of the bolt type. The second system passes through the hole provided for this purpose in the type (8) or type (9) sleeve. The strap (11) is additionally provided with a stud (22) which fits into one of the type holes (12)

  drilled in the tube (3), as shown in detail in Figures 2-a and 2-b.

  Figure 1-a also shows that the ring formed by the strap (10) can be pushed back towards the plate (2) by a spring (14) which is supported on the tube (3) via, of a lug which enters a type hole (13) of the tube (3). In this case, the strap (11), on the spring side, does not have a stud. Advantageously, the spring (14) may include a ring (15) which makes it possible to disengage the lug of the spring (14), which facilitates possible adjustment 10 to adapt to the width of the banner.

  To keep the straps apart, it is possible to mount on the tube two rings held in position by screws, needle for example, which come to bear on the tube 3.

  In this case the straps (10) and (11) do not have a stud.

  One or more straps (16), closed by press studs, for example and 15 made of tarpaulin or with a strap prevent the banner from sliding down under the action of its weight and the wind. Figure 3 shows an embodiment of a strap (16) Figure 4-a shows a variant in which the spring (14) has been removed. The two fixing rings on the tube (3) are then of the type (11) previously described. These two rings are placed at a distance slightly greater than the distance which separates the two vertical sleeves of the banner and the tension of the upper part of the banner (4) is

  obtained by the elasticity of the rod (5).

  The figure 4-b represents a variant in which the type rings (11) are replaced by sleeves (17). One or more simple hooks (18) arranged on the rod (4) each passing through a hole or a slot in the banner (4) advantageously replaces the type suspenders (16).

  Without being limiting in anything, FIGS. 5-a, 5-b, 5c, 5-d, 5-e, 5-f and 5-g

  give some examples of banner shapes (4) and position of the rod (5).

  The transition from one configuration to another can be achieved by changing the

  nests by the user of the banner himself.

  Similarly, Figure (6) provides examples of making the banner. In Figure (6a) the sleeves are formed by folding the canvas of the banner on itself by gluing, sewing, stapling or by any other equivalent process. On the figure (6-b) the banner is folded back on itself to constitute a single tube which can, possibly, be closed in its lower part like a sock. In this configuration it is possible to increase the tension of the fabric by making the rod make one or more dead turns inside the banner. Figures 5-c, 5-f and 6-c represent cases of banners formed of a simple canvas connected to the rod which surrounds it by suspenders (16), clips,

  esse-shaped hooks or any other equivalent process.

  decorative and / or informative of the whole.

  The figure 7-a represents a variant of the invention which consists in adjusting the distance between the suspension straps (10) using a set of two telescopic tubes which it is possible to block one relative to the other. This setting can be discontinued by

  by the intermediary of a snap-on of which an embodiment is represented on the figure 7-b. On the representation of the figure 7-b this snap-in also serves as a spring in order to ensure the tension of the fabric. A continuous adjustment can be obtained by immobilizing the two tubes relative to each other using a needle screw, a screw mandrel (figure 7-c), a blocking with cam (figure (7-d) or by any other equivalent process.

  The realizations described by the figures 7-a, 7-b, 7-c and 7-d can be used for

  move aside the two vertical rods in their lower part.

  Figure 8 shows a variant in which the different parts of the rod are not assembled end to end but in another arrangement. This variant lends itself well to the case where the banner is formed from two layers of canvas. In this figure are represented

  two techniques for hanging the banner either by the rod or by the canvas.

  FIG. 9 represents, by way of example only, a variant in which certain segments of the rod are assembled end to end and other segments are assembled side by side. This figure also shows that the functions fulfilled by the parts (11) and (16) 25 described above can be provided by one or more parts of type (19).

  FIG. 10 represents a variant of the invention in which the flexible part of the rod (20) pushes on two rigid parts (21). This variant is well suited to the case where the

  banner is made up of two layers of canvases.

  Figures 11, 12 and 13 illustrate some non-limiting examples of application of the invention.

  The invention is not limited to the description, appended to its drawings, provided above and

  it covers all the variants already explained or not.

  Advantages of the new solution We note that according to the invention * the tension of the banner is well ensured in the lower part by the presence of the flexible rod * the tension of the banner is well ensured in the upper part by the presence of spring 5 or by using the flexibility of the high ends of the rod or by performing a turn

Claims (10)

claims   1. Flexible banner support assembly (4) made of canvas or any other equivalent material characterized by a rod (5), passed through sleeves (6) and (7) provided for this purpose in the 5 banner, attached to the horizontal arm ( 3) a bracket via straps (10). The invention also includes a system which prevents the fabric from sliding towards the bottom.   2. Banner support assembly according to claim 1 including the. system that prevents   the fabric for sliding down consists of straps (16).   3. Banner support assembly according to claim 1, the system of which prevents the canvas from sliding downwards consists of a hook (18).   4. Banner support assembly according to all or part of claims 1 to 3, characterized   by the constitution of the rod in several segments, some of which may be rigid.   5. Banner support assembly according to all or part of claims 1 to 4, characterized by a rod which is connected, end to end, on itself to form a single ring.   6. Banner support assembly according to all or part of claims 1 to 4, characterized   by a rod which connects on itself to form a quadrilateral with curved sides   or not according to the provisions of figure 8.   7. Banner support assembly according to all or part of claims 1 to 6, characterized   in that the upper ends of the rod are equipped with sleeves (8) and (9).   8. Banner support assembly according to all or part of claims 1 to 7, characterized   in that the straps (10) are provided with one or two snaps which make it possible to form a loop around the tube (3) and to close with a guard on the sleeve (8) or the sleeve (9).   9. Banner support assembly according to all or part of claims 1 to 8 characterized   by adding a stud crimped or fixed by any other means to the straps (10) and   intended to enter a hole or a housing in the stem tube.   10. Banner support assembly according to all or part of claims 1 to 8 characterized in that the straps (10) are spaced from one another by a spring 15 or by rings fixed on the tube (3).
