Abstract

The system uses an artificial vision unit (3) including a matrix camera (7) whose zone of vision (9) encompasses at least a part of the collection means (1). The vision system (3) permits the referencing and counting of the articles passing through the vision zone (9). A retention comb (4) temporarily restrains the articles driven by the collection system (1). The comb (4) is placed on the downstream side of the vision zone (9), and has a number of teeth (10, 11) each of which can take up two positions, that is to say a rest position and a retention position, in which the teeth hinder the movement of the articles or let them pass freely. The vision system (3) sends control data to the comb (4) so that the comb's teeth are lowered from the rest position to the retention position, until the end of the inspection cycle. Lowering of certain teeth is delayed so as to selectively authorise the passage of the last articles (32) which enables the matching of the number of articles (N) with the predetermined quantity (NO) for the current inspection cycle.
