Abstract

The container, comprising a base (1) with an inner strap (2) and a lid (3), has the base made from wood veneer with a polygonal section, tapering inwards towards the bottom (11), with the strap - also of wood veneer - fastened by rivets to its two sides. The lid has a central panel of the same shape as the upper edge of the base and a rim made form folded side and end flaps with flexible joints which can be inserted into the upper end of the base, while corner projections prevent it from being pushed in below the level of the edge of the base. One end of the base has a recess (19) to receive the neck of the bottle for pouring, and in a variant of the design the lid can have an aperture covered by a layer of transparent film to allow the contents to be seed.

Description

I The present invention relates to an unrolled wooden tray

  intended for the wine and spirits market, in bottle.

  It is well known to make packaging for presentation

  and the marketing of these kinds of products.

  They can contain one or more bottles. They are generally made of cardboard, metal, wood or plastic. None of these packages has any other function than the

  packaging for transport or presentation.

  There are also pouring baskets which are receptacles, generally wicker, intended to receive a bottle of wine after uncorking, in an inclined position, so that the wine rests in a position close to that of storage. The basket is then used when pouring the wine into the glasses. These baskets are not suitable for packaging or transporting bottles. The trays, and in particular that described in patent application born 93 00213, are designed for the packaging and transport of food and horticultural products, but cannot

  not be used in their current structure for bottles.

  The object of the present invention is precisely a tray which performs all of the functions: packaging, transport, and pouring basket. It is characterized by the addition, inside a tray, consisting of a body and a cover, of a holding handle and by the realization in the upper part of a side of the body of a rounded cut-out intended to receive the neck

of a bottle.

  According to the invention, the tray has a substantially frustoconical shape with a lower face, of smaller, closed surface which constitutes the bottom of the tray and an open upper face, of larger surface which can be closed by a cover. The two faces have a polygonal shape, and in particular a rectangle shape with chamfers at the four angles. Lateral flanks leave from the circumference of the bottom to join the circumference of the face

superior.

  Inside the tray, a handle is fixed on the two lateral flanks using rivets, giving it a certain rotary mobility, and the size of which arrives at the open upper face. This handle has two main functions - The first is to pocket the contained bottle to tip forward, when the unit is presented upright without cover; - The second is to receive the bottom of the bottle to block it in an inclined position, the neck resting on the side opposite the handle, when the tray is used as a pouring basket. In order to perfect keeping the bottle in an inclined position,

  a cut was made in the side supporting the neck.

  The lid allows the stackability of the trays, and also has a function linked to the presentation of a gift whose content is

very often hidden.

  It includes: - a polygonal plate having the same shape as the faces of the body

  and dimensions identical to those of the upper face of the body.

  - on four of the edges of the tray, a rim, integral with the tray by an elastic hinge which allows said rim to pivot around

of the corresponding edge.

  This structure of the cover gives said cover the characteristic

  tick to be able to fit into the body by the upper face of the body. The plate is blocked at the plane of the upper face of the body, by cutting the angles, leaving the cover of the upper face of the body, coming to rest on the angles of the body. The inner handle will serve as a central support, since it reaches the

  level of the upper surface of the body.

  Two of the four edges of the lid have a shape such that they are housed between the body of the bottle and that of the

  tray. This gives the lid some blockage.

  This blocking will become definitive thanks to the addition of a bracelet encircling the body of the tray. It can be done in

  cardboard, of elastic material, of adhesive or thermo-material

retractable.

  The characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge

  better from the description which follows, given by way of illustration and

  nonlimiting, with reference to the drawings in which: - Figure 1 shows a perspective view of the tray with its cover, - Figure 2 shows a polygonal cut from which the cover is made, - Figure 3 shows a perspective view of the tray

with a bottle.

  - Figure 4 shows the tray in its use of

pouring basket, with a bottle.

  The body (1) of the tray described is made of peeled wood; it comprises, as can be seen in FIG. 1: a- a lower face of smaller surface closed by a bottom (11), an open upper face of larger surface (12), the two faces having the shape of a chamfered rectangle, b- two flanks (14), two flanks (15) and four or eight flanks (16) c- an inner loop (2) fixed by two rivets (21), and whose total height arrives at the open upper face; d- a rounded cutout (19) on the side (15) furthest from the handle. Figure 2 shows an embodiment of the cover. This last

  is made from a cut made from the same material.

  It comprises a central plate (31) of the same shape as the upper face of the body, two flanges (32a and 32b) along the larger dimensions; two edges (33a and 33b) along the edges of smaller dimension, have a shape and dimensions which allow them to be folded and to come to be inserted between the body of the bottle and that of the tray; four cutouts (34a, 34b, 34c, 34d) along the edges which correspond to the chamfers, which come to rest on the upper part of the body of the tray to prevent the lid from sinking into the tray. The material

  used for cutting is either cardboard or wood.

  At the junction of the edges and the plate, a groove (35) has been made which acts as a hinge. The flanges can be folded along this groove, the elasticity of the material constituting the cover tends to bring these so-called flanges back to their original position. In Figure 3, we see a bottle positioned in the tray and which shows that if the tray is in position

  vertical, the bottle cannot tip forward.

  FIGS. 4 shows the use of the comae pouring basket.

Claims (4)

  1- Tray for presentation, packaging and use as a pouring basket for bottled wines and spirits, consisting of a body, an inner handle and a lid, characterized in that: - the body (1) is in unrolled wood and has a substantially frustoconical shape with a lower face (11) and an upper face (12) of the same polygonal shape, sides (14, 15, 16) which connect the edges of the face lower (11) than those corresponding on the face superior12).   - the inner handle (2), also made of peeled wood, is fixed by two rivets on the sides (14). Its length is such that once positioned it arrives at the open upper face (12) - the cover (3) consists of a central plate (31) of the same shape as the lower and upper faces of the body (1 ), of   dimensions identical to those of the upper face, and   edges (32 and 33) integral with the plate by elastic hinges, as well as four cutouts on the chamfers (34a, 34b, 34c, 34d),   preventing the lid from sinking into the tray.   2- Tray according to claim 1, characterized by a rounded cutout (19) in the upper part of a sidewall (15),   intended to receive the neck of a bottle.   3- Tray according to claim 1 and 2 characterized in that the cover (3) is fitted into the body (1) so that the edges (32a, 32b, 33a, 33b) of the cover remain inaccessible, that the edges (33a and 33b) are positioned between the body of the tray and that of the bottle, and that the cutouts (34a, 34b, 34c, 34d) rest on the chamfers of the upper part of the body.   4- Tray according to claims 1 to 3 characterized in   that the cover has an opening (36) for viewing. The   said opening can be sealed with a transparent film.
