Abstract

The clip comprises a rectilinear segment (1a) which is connected by way of a radius of curvature (1c) to a curved segment (1b) which can be bent by means of compressive force against the rectilinear segment (1a) and can be held in position there by arrangements (1a1) on the said rectilinear segment (1a).

Description

 SURGICAL STAPLE.

 The invention relates to the technical sector of accessories for medical use.

 It is known to use, in particular in laparoscopy, staples for ligating organs such as arteries which it is necessary to cut.

Generally, these staples have a cross section in the form of
U. The clip covers the organ to be ligated and is then subjected, by means of an appropriate device, to a crushing force in order to fold down its branches in order to enclose the section of the organ to perform a ligature.

This solution is however not satisfactory and above all does not have a sufficient security character, given the application. Indeed,
The clip may reopen unexpectedly. We understand the consequences that this can have.

 In order to avoid such risks, very often, the practitioner has, at the level of the organ, several staples positioned one next to the other. This solution is however not satisfactory and does not completely exclude the above-mentioned risks.

 The object of the invention is to remedy these drawbacks in a simple, safe, effective and rational manner.

 The problem which the invention proposes to solve is to produce a shaped surgical clip to avoid any risk of unexpected and accidental opening.

 Such a problem is solved in that the clip comprises a rectilinear segment connected by a radius of curvature to a curved segment capable of being folded down under a force of pressure against the rectilinear segment while being held there in position by arrangements of said rectilinear segment .

 To solve the problem posed of ensuring a hooking function, after crushing of the constituent parts of the staple at the level of the organ to be ligated, the arrangements of the rectilinear segment are constituted by a hook part established at the end of the end free of said segment and in which the free end of the curved segment cooperates after being folded down.

 Advantageously, the clip has a flat cross section.

 Another problem which the invention proposes to solve is to avoid any risk of the staple sliding relative to the member.

To solve such a problem, the clip has, on its internal face, streaks. Streaks are arranged
- either transversely,
- either longitudinally,
- either transversely and longitudinally.

The invention is set out below in more detail with the aid of the accompanying drawings, in which
Figure 1 is a perspective view, on a large scale, of the clip.

 Figure 2 is a front view of the clip in the open position.

 Figure 3 is a view similar to Figure 2 showing the closure of the clip.

 Figure 4 is a view similar to Figure 2 in the closed position of the clip.

 FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view taken along line 5.5 of FIG. 2.

 As shown in FIG. 1, the clip, generally designated by (1), has a straight segment (la) connected to a curved segment (lob) by a radius (il).

 The free end of the straight segment (la) has a part (lai) which is curved inside, to act as a hook. When the two segments (la) and (1b) are subjected to a clamping force, by means of all known and appropriate types of apparatus, the latter, taking into account their particular profile and arrangement, are deformed as follows.

 The curved segment (lob) is folded angularly against the straight segment (la) (Figure 3), then, under the clamping force, slides on said straight segment to come by its free end (obi) to hook in the part ( lai) (Figure 4). At this level, the clip, which encloses the organ to be ligated, is completely closed and cannot be opened, taking into account the hooking position of the parts (lai) and (obi).

 As an indication, in no way limiting, the radius of connection (lc) delimits an arc of a sector of approximately 114 "while the radius of curvature (lob) delimits an arc of a sector of approximately 65".

 According to another characteristic and to avoid any risk of slipping of the staple, the latter has streaks (nest). These ridges (nest) are arranged on the internal side of the staple and oriented either transversely, horizontally, or transversely and horizontally.

 The staple as defined according to the characteristics of the invention, is placed at the level of the member to be ligated by all types of known and appropriate devices, ensuring both the function of feeding and tightening of the staples.

The advantages are apparent from the description, in particular it is emphasized and recalled
- hooking in the closed position of the clip avoiding any risk of unexpected opening,
- the effectiveness of the result obtained,
- the reduction in the number of staples necessary to ensure ligation
of the organ.

 -1- Surgical clip characterized in that it comprises a rectilinear segment (la) connected by a radius of curvature (lc) to a curved segment (lob) able to be folded down under a force of pressure against the rectilinear segment (la) by being held there in position by arrangements (lai) of said rectilinear segment (la). -2- Clip according to claim 1, characterized in that the arrangements of the straight segment (la) are constituted by a hook portion (laI) established at the end of the free end of said segment (la) and in which the free end (obi) of the curved segment (lob) after being folded down. -3- A clip according to claim 1, characterized in that it has a flat cross section. -4- Clip according to claim 1, characterized in that it has on its internal face of the grooves (nest). -5- Clip according to claim 1, characterized in that the ridges (nest) are arranged transversely. -6- Clip according to claim 1, characterized in that the ridges (nest) are arranged horizontally. -7- Clip according to claim 1, characterized in that the ridges (nest) are arranged transversely and horizontally.
