Abstract

The luggage cover (1) is stowed on a roller (2) which is mounted between the sides of the bodywork (7) behind the vehicle rear seat. Hand grips (4) with indentations (4a) are fixed to the cover by rivets (6). When the cover is extended, the hand grips fit over hooks (8) which are bolted to the sides of the body. The ends of the hand grips fit over the hooks to prevent accidental disengagement. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used in 3- or 5-door vehicles having a luggage compartment with an open top, providing visual security without requiring a rigid shelf.

Description

The present invention relates to a luggage cover device for a vehicle trunk comprising a curtain which can be rolled up in a cassette situated behind the rear seats of the vehicle or unwinding from this cassette, gripping means carried by the curtain and making it possible to pull it out of the cassette, and means for maintaining the curtain in the unrolled position.

The device according to the invention is characterized in that the gripping means also ensure the maintenance of the curtain in the unrolled position and avoid an involuntary stall.

In one embodiment of the invention, said gripping and holding means comprise two handles having gripping cavities and fixed on the rear transverse edge of the curtain, each in the vicinity of one of the ends of this edge, and hooks which are fixed on the side walls of the box and can engage in the grip cavities. Each of the handles thus has a double function: it allows gripping by engagement of the fingers in the cavity and a retaining function by housing in the cavity of the hook fixed on the adjacent side wall. In addition to their aesthetic forms, the handles have retaining cavities having a shape preventing untimely stalling.

As shown in the drawings, the luggage cover device for the trunk of a motor vehicle comprises a curtain 1 which can be unwound from a cassette 2 to conceal the luggage placed in the trunk 3 of a motor vehicle, or retractor in this cassette. This is located behind the rear seats of the vehicle.

The rear transverse edge of the curtain 1 carries, in the vicinity of its ends, two operating handles 4
These each have a slot 5 in which the edge of the curtain is engaged, the latter being held in place by rivets 6.

Each handle 4 has a gripping cavity 4a in which the user's fingers can engage and whose outer edge is closed by a cheek 4b.

Furthermore, each side wall 7 of the trunk 3 has a hook 8 which can engage in the cavity 4a of the adjacent handle 4, when the curtain is in its position of use in which it covers the luggage placed in the trunk. When the hook 8 is engaged in the cavity 4a, the cheek 4b in abutment against the face 8a of the hook prevents an untimely release of the hook from the cavity if pressure, due for example to a load, is exerted on the curtain 1.

To bring the curtain 1 to the position of use, it suffices to engage the fingers in the cavities 4a of the handles 4, to pull the curtain 1 towards you, to pass it over the hooks 8 and to release it in l 'lowering. Under the action of the reel of the cassette, the curtain expands and the hooks 8 engage in the cavities 4a. Conversely, to release the curtain, we grasp the two handles and pull them towards you so as to engage the hooks 8 of the cavities 4a, we raise the curtain which under the action of the reel is wound in the cassette so known.

The device according to the invention is economical because with few parts it allows a good hanging of the curtain.

 I1 is aesthetic because the handles and hooks made of molded plastic have a pleasant design.

It is reliable because the cavities made in the handles prevent untimely stalls.

 It goes without saying that the present invention should not be considered as limited to the embodiment described and shown but, on the contrary, covers all variants thereof.

Claims 1. Luggage cover device for a motor vehicle trunk comprising a curtain (1) which can be rolled up in a cassette (2) located behind the rear seats of the vehicle or unwind from this cassette, gripping means carried by the curtain ( 1) and making it possible to pull it out of the cassette (2) and means for maintaining the curtain in the unrolled position, characterized in that the gripping means also maintain the curtain (1) in the unrolled position. 2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that said gripping and holding means comprise two handles (4) having gripping cavities (4a) and fixed on the rear transverse edge of the curtain (1), each in the vicinity of one of the ends of this edge, and hooks (8) which are fixed on the side walls (7) of the body and can engage in the grip cavities (4a) of the handles. 3. Device according to claim 2, characterized in that each handle (4) has a slot (5) in which is engaged the rear transverse edge of the curtain. 4. Device according to claim 2 or 3, characterized in that the cavity (4a) of the handle is closed by a side cheek (4b) preventing untimely release of the hook. 5. Device according to one of claims 2 to 4, characterized in that each handle (4) is fixed to the curtain (1) by rivets (6).
