Abstract
This coated metal sheet (10) comprises a dip-coated metal substrate (12) covered on at least one of its faces with a film (16) of a thickness of at most 1 mu m, comprising a metal alloy such as an aluminium alloy containing chromium or magnesium, or an oxide such as magnesium oxide or chromium oxide. The intermediate metal layer (14) of dip coating preferably contains chiefly aluminium and has a thickness greater than 10 mu m. The film (16) is deposited on the aluminised metal sheet in a vacuum enclosure (20), for example by pulverising a target with an ion beam. Application to the protection of sheet metal against corrosion, to ductility improvement and to the folding of coated sheet metal and the manufacture of motor vehicle exhaust system components.
