Abstract

The system is used on an amphibious. The wheels (1) of the vehicle have a series of paddles (3) which rotate at the same time as the wheel and direct accelerated fluid through a flow way (4). The fluid is ejected at high speed through an outlet port (5) which propels the vehicle, by moving the wheels of the vehicle which provide steering, the vehicle can be manoeuvred without recourse to other equipment.

Description

The present invention relates to a nautical propulsion device for an amphibious vehicle. Currently, amphibious vehicles are propelled into the water either by propellers or hydrojets.

Each amphibious vehicle has two separate mechanisms, one for propelling the wheels to move on land, the other for nautical propulsion. The device according to the invention makes it possible to drive only the wheels of the vehicle which work as hydrojets as soon as they are immersed in water.

I1 comprises according to the invention a wheel whose rim has vanes, which rotate at the same time as the drive wheel. The vanes cause a flow of liquid, which is directed towards the inlet of the delivery channel. The ejection of water from the discharge pipe is oriented to propel the vehicle into the water. For the device to function properly, it is necessary to block the vehicle differential. Figure 1 shows in section the device according to the invention.

The plan of the nautical propulsion device comprises: the tire (1) with its rim (2). The rim (2) has blades (3). Behind the blades there is the inlet of the delivery channel (4) followed by a delivery pipe (5) (possibly terminated by an ejection nozzle) oriented opposite to the desired displacement. The principle of fixing the rim, 'motorizing the wheel, braking etc. is identical to that of an ordinary land vehicle. Nautical propulsion is done as follows:
The vanes (3) turning at the same time as the rim (2) and the tire (1) work like a pump and accelerate the liquid towards the delivery channel (4). Then the liquid leaves with a higher speed of the delivery pipe (5). The acceleration of the liquid (pumping) can be done by the principle of flow in the pump: axial, centrifugal or helico-centrifugal. Figure 1 shows the helico-centrifugal principle, Figure 2 the axial principle.

In the case of an amphibious vehicle with 4 driven wheels, 4 hydrojet groups are obtained. By turning the steering wheel, the wheels are oriented and at the same time the direction of the water jets, which come out of the delivery pipes (5), which makes it possible to steer the amphibious vehicle on water without any other device being necessary (rudder, spoiler ...). To have a proper functioning of the hydrojets according to the invention it is necessary to block or control the differential in another way. Device according to the invention can be used as a pumping means by connecting drainage pipes to the delivery pipe (s) (5), provided that the wheels are immersed.
