Abstract

- Car suspension (for wheels belonging to the same axle) characterised in that it includes three bars A, B, C, of the same length, the ends of each bar being anchored by means of ball joints. The bars A and B join the right-hand and left-hand hub carriers, the bar C is articulated at one of its ends (C1) to one of the hub carriers and at its end (C2) to an element of the chassis close to the opposite hub carrier. The bars A and B are strictly parallel with each other regardless of the movements of the chassis and the bar A is provided, in its mid part, with a sliding link, the end D2 of which is anchored to the bar A by means of a ball joint. This link is secured to the box (steering type).

Description

DYNAMIC SUSPENSION FOR VEHICLES
The present invention relates to kinematics and dynamics of car suspension.

Schematically, the goal is to obtain, in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the car, a displacement of the axis of the wheel such that this axis remains parallel, by reducing to the minimum the variations of lane, and by eliminating the camber variations.

The simplest, most effective and most widespread solution, especially in competition, is to articulate two bars or two superimposed triangles.

If we have bars of the same length with perpendicular and parallel anchor points, or if our chassis takes pumping (movement from top to bottom, ie vertical), no variation in camber takes place but a significant channel variation occurs. (see Fig. 1)
If our chassis rolls (chassis tilt), we record a camber variation as shown in Fig. 2, which leads to a negative behavior of the road holding in the first case, and deteriorates the motor skills in the second case.

The evolution due to motor racing has made it possible to change the anchor points and the lengths of the bars or triangles (see Fig. 3)
As we can see, we still have camber variations.

My invention eliminates these camber variations and reduces track variations to a minimum. It is, in fact, a completely different concept from the bars and triangles known up to now (see Fig. 4):
The right and left wheels are connected together by connecting bars of the same length: - upper bar A
- lower bar B
To secure the wheel / bar assembly to the chassis, we use bar C (below), which is articulated from the chassis and which joins the articulation point of bar B, which makes the bottom integral.

The entire upper part is connected to the sliding link (D) to compensate for variations in length due to pumping. It is actuated by a box (steering type), itself controlled by a hydraulic or pneumatic system governed by centrifugal force (ex: Citroën XM
Hydroactive) plus possibly two photocells which can take into account the level variations of the road or the track.

B), étant donné que la barre C décrit un arc de cercle;
The chassis may take a tilt (roll), will not cause any camber variation since the box which controls the link (D) will correct it as much as is necessary to keep the wheels perpendicular to the ground. (see Fig. 5)
If the chassis takes pumping, no camber variation takes place since the bars A and B are the same length. Bar C will cause a slight shift to the right or left of the wheel / bars assembly (A and
B), since the bar C describes an arc of a circle;
Depending on the movement of the pumping, this variation will be minimal given the length of the bars.

Conclusion
It will be compensated during large deflections by the housing (See Fig. 6)
Conclusion
This suspension can be applied to high-end cars or even more, competition cars, an environment in which the widths of the tires impose a minimum of camber variations, which currently requires manufacturers to have reduced deflections to avoid these same variations).
