Ce refroidissement rapide est une nécessité et un avantage car il permet le décollement du matériau thermosoudé. De son côté le plastique est aussi refroidi de façon complémentaire par un jet d'air dosé provenant de la tubulure 7 et distribué vers la nervure 13 en passant par l'espace annulaire 5, selon le réglage effectué à l'aide du diffuseur 8. La platine 3 est elle-même refroidie en permanence par une circulation d'eau dans le conduit 9.
