Abstract

The invention relates to a technique for fastening and shaping inserts made of polycrystalline diamond or CBN (cubic boron nitride), on carbide, steel, or composite material support tips which are intended for turning, milling, drilling, boring, making mortices and for all tools operating by removal of material. The shape of the insert is that of a chevron (Figure 1 or 2) which varies depending on the type of tool. The chevron is mounted on one side of the support tip either externally or in a housing (case of an inset chevron). The lower face A of the chevron is on the same plane as the lower face B of the support. The brazing surface is produced over the entire internal height and on the sides of the chevron (a). The shape of the chevron is inclined so as to inset and wedge in the housing in the support.
