Abstract

The invention relates to a device consisting of a flexible rim strip placed around the periphery of dental X-ray films, in order to reduce the pain caused by the presence of the sharp edge of existing films. This rim strip 2, of rounded cross-section, preformed in a curvilinear rectangle, optionally left open by a division 4, can either hold the film 1 in a groove 3 or be integral with a sheet 5 which may constitute one of the leaves of the protective cover of the film.

DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a device having for its object the modification of the peripheral border of the radiographs used in dental intraoral radiography.

 These plates set in a standard plasticized 31 / 41mm (1 1/4 x 1 1/5 inch) format package have rounded edges. The airtight packaging isolates the element sensitive to radiation emitted by the tube of the radiographic device, from any additional light source and humidity from the oral environment.

 The pouch thus formed lets appear a sharp and sharp edge probably resulting from the packaging process (bonding or hot polymerization).

Taking a retro-alveolar dental radiograph, in particular at the mandible, is done by placing the radiograph in a plane, either parallel to the axis of the teeth to be radiographed (posterior lateral positions) or along an axis
ormal to the bisector of the angle formed by the line representing the dental plane and the plane of the film.

 In order to obtain a good picture on which all the elements necessary for the diagnosis appear (dental crowns, roots and their apices, surrounding tissues, bones and ligaments) it is necessary to locate the bottom edge of this picture as deeply as possible on the floor buccal formed inter alia by the genioglossal, digastric, mylohyoid muscles including even the submandibular glands.

 On the other hand, their lateral insertions on the horizontal branch of the lower jaw, as well as at the anterior level in the retro-incisor zone (genius processes) can be, depending on the subject, in more or less deep anatomical positions.

 It follows that in unfavorable cases where the depth is insufficient, the positioning of the radiography causes pain for the patient, all the more acute as his mouth floor is shallow.

 The device according to the invention overcomes this drawback.

It replaces the sharp edge with a flexible bead according to an embodiment shown on the plane 1/2.

The bead consists of a plastic rod of either rounded, oval or teardrop-shaped section, preformed into a curvilinear rectangle having in its median plane an internal groove forming two lips located on either side of the radiographic image. .

 Figure 1 shows the device (2) seen in plan, the picture itself (1) being shown in broken lines and the bead (2) in solid line.

 2 shows the device (2) seen in section along AA, the picture itself is not shown but is housed in the groove (3) of the bead (2) with its envelope.

 The preformed bead may also have an interruption (4), this arrangement being able to facilitate the dismantling of the plate. This process seems better suited to use, since it can be carried out individually.

 According to another embodiment shown on the plane 2/2, the bead of circular section is secured to a flat part on which the plate will be pressed.

 Figure 3 shows the device seen in plan, the picture itself (1) being shown in broken lines and the bead (2) in solid line.

 Figure 4 shows in continuous line the device (2) in a section along AA, the picture (2) itself being shown in broken lines.

 In this case the flat or veil part (5) can replace one of the plastic cover sheets constituting the plate as it is commercially delivered.

 The bead can also be produced at the time of packaging the film in its sealed pouch, the closure itself producing the bead instead of being polymerized or co-edge-to-edge.

 The device can be made of flexible plastic, either with a rounded shape (6) or with an elliptical shape (7).

 1 - Device for bordering the radiographs of dental x-rays (1) characterized  in that it consists of a flexible bead (2) preformed of rectangular shape  curvilinear surface having in the median plane an internal groove (3) where  to place the plate (1).  r - Device according to claim (1) characterized in that it consists  by an independent bead adaptable on the plate (1) at the time of use  (4).  3 - Device according to claim 1 in that it is preformed into a rectangle  curvilinear secured to a flat part or veil (5).  4 - Device according to one of the preceding claims characterized in that it  is made of flexible, rounded plastic (6).  5 - Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized  in that it is made of plastic elliptical material (7).
