Abstract

THIS LOCKING DEVICE FOR A HOOK 4 MOUNTED SWIVELING ON THE FREE EDGE OF A DOOR B AND COOPERATING WITH RETAINING MEANS 8 PART OF THE SLEEPING PART, INCLUDES ON THE SAID DORMING PART 1 A SLIDING LATCH 11 ADAPTED TO COOPERATE WITH A STRIKE 9 SHAPED ON HOOK 4, AND ELASTICALLY STRESSED IN THE LOCKING POSITION, THIS LATCH HAVING A RIGID EXTENSION 16 SURROUNDING AT LEAST PARTIALLY THE HOOK 4 IN ITS LOCKING POSITION AND A STOP 19 FOR RETAINING THE SAID EXTENSION 16 ELASTI IN RETACRACABLE POSITION .

Description

The present invention relates to devices

  locking the rear doors of dump trucks

  lantes, or other similar vehicles, adapted for dumping their cargo from the rear and comprising, for this purpose, a rear door with two leaves opening outwards

  in order to completely clear the passage of the load.

  Vehicles of this type are widely used in all construction, earthmoving or

  analogs in which various materials are to be trans-

  carried and dumped anywhere on the job site

  or, on the contrary, at a point distant from the latter.

  We know different rear locking systems for vehicles of this type. One of these systems comprises a single-piece panel, articulated by its upper edge on a horizontal axis and locked by its lower edge

on the vehicle body.

  In another system, the rear door has two leaves pivotally mounted on vertical axes, on the

  two side walls of the vehicle.

  In the latter type of system, to which the invention

  is particularly relative, the two leaves are ver-

  rusty at their junction, in the middle of the width of the

vehicle body.

  With either of these systems, and more

  especially with the second, the door unlocking control must be such that the operator is not in the exit path of the materials, which can start to flow by gravity, even if the unlocking is carried out while the bucket is not yet tipped,

in order to avoid any accident.

  The object of the invention is therefore to provide a locking device for a rear door system with

  two wings for dump truck or other vehicle, incli-

  filler, whose control is ensured from one of the sides of the vehicle so that the operator can actuate it in complete safety while being out of the path of exit of the material to be discharged, that is to say from a point

located on the side of the vehicle.

  The subject of the invention is to this end a device for locking a hook pivotally mounted on the free edge of a door and cooperating with retaining means integral with the sleeping part, characterized in that it comprises on said part a sliding bolt adapted to cooperate with a keeper formed on the hook, and resiliently biased in the locked position, this

  bolt having a rigid extension surrounding at least partially-

  the hook in its hooking position, and

  a retaining stop for said extension in the retracted position

elastically erasable.

  According to another characteristic of the invention, the bolt is slidably mounted in a guide member fixed to the dormant part, in which it is biased by

  a spring, and is connected to a remote control member.

  According to another characteristic, said extension

  rigid is a rectangular frame defining an opening

  elongated structure suitable for receiving the hook head, this frame

  being fixed on the bolt by one of its small sides.

  Advantageously, the end of the bolt projects into said opening, the distance between this end of the bolt and the opposite side of said frame being at

  less equal to the width of the hook head.

  According to one embodiment, said stopper clears

  elastically gable comprises an elastic blade fixed by one end to the guide member of the bolt and extending parallel to it, on the side of said frame opposite the hook, and a projection directed towards the frame fixed on its opposite end, the arrangement being such that in the unconstrained state of the blade, said projection is opposite

  In this device, the keeper is constituted by a notch formed in the rear part of the head of the hook, opposite its part cooperating with the retaining means, facing the bolt when said hook is in its

hanging position.

  The device according to the invention can also be used on doors with two leaves and finds a particularly advantageous application in the locking of doors of tipping bodies and it will be described below

  by way of nonlimiting example in such an application.

  The following description next to the drawing

  appended by way of nonlimiting example will make it possible

  understand how the invention can be put into practice.

  Figure 1 is a bottom plan view of the former

  rear end of a tilting skip closed by a double leaf door kept closed by means of a locking device according to the invention, shown in the locked position. Figure 2 is a view similar to that of the

  Figure 1, but showing the device in the open position.

  Figure 3 is an end view, rear, of the

bucket, the door being closed.

  FIG. 4 is a partial view with cutaway,

  taken in the direction of arrow A in Figure 3.

  Referring to the drawing, reference 1 designates the

  bottom surface of the bottom of a self-tipping skip

  bile, closed by a door with two leaves A and B hinged on the sides of the bucket in order to pivot around lateral vertical axes 2 mounted on the drop sides; the bottom 1 constitutes the dormant part of the door A B. On its vertical edge opposite its axis 2, the leaf B has another vertical axis 3, mounted to rotate and carrying a hook fixed at each of its ends so as to rotate integrally , these two hooks 4, 5 extending

  parallel in the same direction with respect to axis 3.

  Referring to Figure 3, which shows the tipper body viewed from rear to end, the hook 4 is fixed to the lower end of the axle 3 and the hook 5 is fixed

on its upper end.

  The lower hook 4 comprises a convex head 6 having a front spout 7 adapted to cooperate with a retaining member constituted by a stud 8 projecting from the dormant part 1 and, in its rear part, a step 9 forming a keeper capable of receiving a bolt, as will be described in

the following.

  The upper hook 5 cooperates with a stud 8 'projecting from the wing A (FIG. 3) and the latter has a rebate 10 capable of receiving the free edge of the wing

B, as known per se.

  The locking device comprises a bolt 11 slidably mounted in a guide member which, according to

  the example shown is a cylinder 12 mounted on the surface

  underside 1 of the bucket (door frame).

  A helical spring 13 biases the bolt 11 towards the outside of the cylinder 12, in the direction of the stud 8 and the

hook 4.

  In addition, the bolt 11 is connected by a rod 14 extending through the spring 13, to a remote control member which, according to the example shown, consists

  by a lever 15 articulated on the sleeping part 1.

  A rigid member 16 constituted according to the example represented by a rectangular frame is fixed by one of

its short sides on the bolt 11.

  The frame 16 delimits an elongated opening 17 and is fixed on the bolt so that the end of

  this protrudes into said opening (Figure 4).

  The width of the opening 17 is slightly greater than the thickness of the head 6 of the hook 4, and its length between the end of the bolt and that of the frame 16 is at least equal to the width of the head 6 of the hook, from beak 7 to

step 9.

  The arrangement is such that the extension member 16

  ment of the bolt is in contact with the stud 8 on which it can slide when the bolt 11 slides in the guide cylinder 12, the stud 8 having for this purpose a flat

(visible in Figure 2).

  A flexible steel blade 18 is fixed by one end to the cylinder 12 so as to extend along the bolt and its extension 16, on the side of the latter which is opposite to the stud 8, thus closing the opening 17,

  when the blade 18 is in the unstressed state.

  In addition, the blade 18 has at its end opposite the cylinder 12 a stop 19 projecting towards the frame.

out of the cylinder.

  Finally, there is provided in the vicinity of the hook 4 a socket 20 secured to the axis 3 for a purpose which will appear

in the following.

  The operation of the device is as follows.

  When the doors are closed and locked

  hook 4 on the nipple 8 and hook 5 on the

  stud 8 ', the head 6 of the hook 4 is engaged in the opening

  frame 17 of the frame 16 which surrounds it, and the bolt 11 is engaged

under the step 9.

  The cylinder 12 being fixed on the dormant part and the frame 16 being in abutment on the stud 8, the hook 4 is

  positively locked and cannot be released from the nipple 8.

  In this position, the convex head 6 of the hook projects through the opening 17 and thus maintains the

blade 18 spaced from the frame 16.

  To unlock the device, simply re-

  pull the bolt by operating lever 15, against

spring action 13.

  In this withdrawal movement, the head of the hook, surrounded by the frame 16, is driven back and is released from the stud 8 at the same time as the bolt 11 is released

step 9.

  The hooks 4 and 5 rotate together in freedom

  the doors. Simultaneously the head 6 of the hook 4 is

  disengages from the frame 16 and the flexible blade 18 resumes elastic

  only its position along the frame 16, with its stop 19

  coming to stand in front of the end of it,

  thus locking the bolt in the retracted position, against

the action of spring 13 (Figure 2).

  In this position the device is ready to

  rust doors automatically. When these are closed, the hook head 4 engages again in the opening 17 of the frame 16 by pushing the blade 18, which

releases the frame / bolt assembly.

  The operator just has to rotate the axis

  3, for example by means of a lever (not shown) engaged

  managed in the socket 20 to bring the hooks 4, 5 back in the hooking position, the bolt 11 returning engaging in engagement

  with the step 9 under the action of the spring 13.

  Note that the lever 15 can be replaced

  by any known actuation device, electric

  stick, hydraulic, pneumatic or other, remote control which allows the operator, like lever 15, to unlock the door without being in front of it, as

  this is necessary in the case of tipping bodies.

Claims (8)

  1. Locking device for a hook (4) pivotally mounted on the free edge of a door (B) and cooperating   with retaining means (8) integral with the sleeping part   mantle, characterized in that it comprises on said dormant part (1) a sliding bolt (11) adapted to cooperate with a keeper (9) formed on the hook (4), and resiliently biased in the locking position, this bolt having a rigid extension (16) at least partially surrounding the hook (4) in its hooking position and a stop (19) for retaining said extension (16) in the retracted position, elastically erasable.   2. Device according to claim 1, character-   se in that the bolt (11) is slidably mounted in an or-   guiding gane (12) fixed on the dormant part (1), in which it is biased by a spring (13), and is connected to   a remote control member (15).   3. Device according to claim 1, character-   in that said rigid extension is a rectan frame   gular (16) delimiting an elongated opening (17) capable of receiving the head (6) of the hook (4), this frame being fixed   on the bolt (11) by one of its short sides.   4. Device according to claim 3, character-   in that the end of the bolt (11) projects into said opening (17), the distance between this end of the bolt and the opposite side of said frame being at least equal to the   width of the hook head (6) (4).   5. Device according to claim 1, character-   in that said resiliently erasable stop comprises an elastic blade (18) fixed by one end to the member (12) for guiding the bolt (11) and extending parallel to the latter, on the side of said frame (16 ) opposite the hook (4), and a projection (19) directed towards the frame fixed on its opposite end, the arrangement being such that in the unstressed state of the blade (18), said projection (19) find opposite said frame (16).   6. Device according to claim 1, character-   se in that there is provided means (20) integral with the hook (4), to drive the latter angularly and manually from its open position to its hooking position.   7. Device according to claim 2, character-   in that said remote control means of the bolt (11) are constituted by a lever (15) articulated on a side of the sleeping part (1).   8. Device according to claim 1, character-   se in that the keeper is constituted by a notch formed in the rear part of the head of the hook opposite its part cooperating with the retaining means, facing the bolt when said hook is in its hooking position.
