Abstract

The present invention is principally constituted by a ring 4 made of absorbent and preferably relatively flexible material, the said ring 4 being positioned around the neck 2 of the bottle, preferably after filling and stopping, then the upper part of the neck 2 can be covered with a sheet 6 comprising cut-outs to allow access to the cork 5.

Description

 The present invention relates to devices for eliminating the drop of liquid which beads at the top of the neck of the bottles, after having poured them into a container.

To facilitate understanding of the invention, a bottle of wine will be taken as an example.

 Currently, quality wines are sold in glass containers with a more or less flared body surmounted by a narrow neck, commonly called a bottle.

Generally these bottles intended to contain wine are corked with cork stoppers and the end of the neck is covered with aluminum foil or with a thermo-formed material (in synthetic material).

 A disadvantage of these bottles is that each time after serving a glass, during a meal, a drop of liquid pearls on the end of the neck and slides to the neck and then falls on the tablecloth if the bottle n is not quickly straightened, causing an unpleasant and stubborn stain.

In the case where the bottle is quickly placed on the table, the drop slides on the outside wall to the tablecloth making particularly unpleasant spots with red wines in particular.

 The device, object of the invention, makes it possible to avoid this drawback in that the drop which slides on the end of the neck, after having poured liquid into a container, is neutralized and therefore cannot stain the tablecloth or the guests .

 The device of the present invention comprises a means which neutralizes the drop, which means is positioned on the periphery of the neck and hugs its periphery.

This means consists essentially of a ring, which is made of an absorbent or porous material or a material comprising these two qualities.

 The ring can have a round, square, rectangular, oval, triangular or any other suitable section. It can be placed directly on the neck, automatically or manually, before or after the bottle is capped.

The ring can also be pre-attached to aluminum foil which will cover the cap, which will be placed together.

The ring is preferably made of a relatively elastic, light and flexible material such as absorbent cardboard, blotter, synthetic material, leather, fabric, cork or any other suitable material.

 For large bottles containing several liters of liquid, several rings can be placed on their neck, and have larger sections.

 The invention is set out below in more detail using drawings representing different embodiments, by way of non-limiting example.

 The designs are designed on various scales for better illustration of certain details.

 Figure 1 shows, a section in elevation, of a bottle with a neck provided with the device, object of the invention.

 Figure 2 shows, in elevation, an alternative embodiment of the invention on a partially shown neck.

 Figure 3 shows a plan view of another alternative embodiment of the invention.

 Figure 4 shows, in perspective, an alternative embodiment of the ring.

 Figure 5 shows, in perspective, another alternative embodiment of the ring.

 Figure 1 of the drawings shows a bottle body 1 surmounted by a neck 2, which has its upper part provided externally with a collar 3, around which neck 2 is positioned a ring 4, which ring 4 is placed just above the collar 3, so that the latter can be used as a retention means.

 The ring 4 is made of an absorbent material and is placed on the neck after the stopper 5, then the upper part of the neck is covered with aluminum foil 6, the latter also obscures the stopper 5 and the ring 4.

Said ring 4 could possibly be slightly pre-glued on its inner face for better adhesion and immobility on the neck, when removing the aluminum foil 6 and during the dispensing of the liquid.

 FIG. 2 shows an alternative embodiment of the invention, in that the ring 7 is positioned on the collar 3 and has a height equal to the latter.

 While respecting the unity of the invention, Figure 3 shows another alternative embodiment of the invention, in that the ring 8 can be secured by any suitable means on the underside of a sheet 9 which will cover thereafter the upper part of the neck 2.

In this case, the ring 8 will be made up of several pieces positioned at a suitable location on the sheet 9, so that when the neck is covered with said sheet 9, the pieces of the ring 8 are juxtaposed by their ends to form a circle. around said neck 2. Obviously, the pieces of the ring 8 can be pre-positioned on the sheet 9 in a manner
re to form another figure than a circle.

 The sheet 9 which may be made of any suitable material will preferably have a circular pre-cut 10 inside the ring 8, making it possible to uncover the upper end of the neck for gripping and removing the cap, while retaining the lower part of said sheet 9 on the bottle.

 The sheet 9 has on its periphery cutouts 11 to facilitate its positioning around the neck and to obtain better aesthetics; however, the shape of the periphery of said sheet can, of course, vary at will.

 FIG. 4 represents a ring 12 with a square periphery 13 and FIG. 5 represents a ring 14 with an oval periphery 15; these specially shaped rings are preferably positioned directly on bottle necks that do not have a collar.

 The rings 12 and 14 have an inside diameter 16 slightly smaller than the outside diameter of the neck, so that said rings can come to a standstill and hold independently thanks to their elasticity.

 It goes without saying that the external shape of the rings is not limited to the examples mentioned above, and can also serve as an advertising medium.

 The ring, object of the invention, used to neutralize the drops dripping along the neck, is more particularly designed for wine bottles, but can have many applications for bottles containing liquids such as: oil, alcohol, liqueur , acid, stripper, etc ...

 Furthermore, the ring can be used on all containers having necks, regardless of the external shape of the latter.
