Abstract
Description
The trays intended to contain a food product are generally produced by means of a first container in which the product is located, and which is engaged in a second transparent tray, while a cardboard or similar decoration is sandwiched between the two aforementioned elements.
It is easily understood that such packaging is expensive because it requires the separate manufacture of two trays and the cutting of a pre-printed blank which must be formed and inserted between the trays.
The improvements which are the subject of the present invention aim to remedy these drawbacks and to allow the production of a packaging for food products which, while having the same qualities as that of the prior art, can be produced cheaper.
To this end, the manufacturing process according to the invention consists
- to print a tape
- to cut successive blanks so that they have different elements corresponding to the shapes of the bottom of the tray and its lateral surface
- to place a tray over a blank or vice versa
- to apply the different elements of the blank against the bottom and the side faces of the tray
- and to assemble the blank and the tray.
According to a preferred embodiment, the strip consists of a film of transparent plastic material pre-printed on its face in contact with the tray, so that once in place, the writing can be read from Outside. This embodiment has the advantage of protecting the print from any scratches that may occur during handling.
The appended drawing, given by way of example, will allow a better understanding of the invention, the characteristics which it senses and the advantages which it is likely to provide.
Fig. 1 illustrates a strip of transparent plastic material coated with a prior printing.
1. Fig. 2 shows a blank cut from the strip of FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 illustre comment le flan de fig. Fig. 3 illustrates how the blank of FIG. 2 is folded so as to come to cooperate with the lateral surface and the bottom of a conventional container.
Fig. 4 illustrates in finished state the article drawn up by implementing the method according to the invention.
The process according to the invention consists first of all in taking a strip 1 (FIG. 1) on which the indications and the like which are to appear on the final packaging are printed. These indications may be printed from the right side on a strip of non-transparent material.
The strip 1 is then cut so as to constitute successive blanks 2 (FIG. 2). Of course, the cutting of each blank is done so that its total surface corresponds to that of a conventional tray 3 (fig. 3). Under these conditions, the blank 2 comprises a central surface 2a corresponding to that of the bottom of the tray, two sides 2b each associated with the long side of the central surface 2a and finally two tabs 2c from the short sides of the surface 2a. It is observed that the short sides of the two sides 2b are provided with flaps 2d.
4. According to the process according to the invention, the blank 2 is brought under a tray 3 (fig. 3), the inscriptions being placed either on the face of the blank located opposite the tray if it is made of non-material transparent, or on its face in contact with the lateral surface of the tray if said blank is cut from a transparent film, the inscriptions being legible by transparency. The central surface 2a of the blank is applied against the external face of the bottom of the tray 3 , the flaps 2b are applied against the large faces of the lateral surface of the tray 3, then the flaps 2d are lying against the external angles of the tray 3 so that they cover these and part of the two small opposite faces of the lateral surface of the tray, finally the tabs 2c are applied against said faces, including against part of the flaps 2d as illustrated in FIG. 4.
Prior to its application against the tray 3, the blank may be coated with an adhesive. If we are dealing with a transparent film from which each blank 2 is made, it can be made of a self-adhesive material, for example under the effect of heat, it is possible to co-use an adhesive known as hot melt "which does not polymerizes only under the effect of rays, for example infrared rays or other directed towards the tray 3 in order to associate the blank and the tray.
A packaging has thus been produced which responds particularly well to the various desiderata of the practice, both aesthetically and economically. The printing is protected by the film which makes the entire side wall of the tray shiny.
It goes without saying that, in accordance with the method according to the invention, it is possible to bring either the tray 3 above the cut blank 2, or the reverse.
In the case where the strip 1 is made of a non-transparent material, it goes without saying that it is the unprinted side of the blank cut from this strip which is applied against the lateral surface of the tray.
Cette dernière est préférablement réalisée en polypropylène. The latter is preferably made of polypropylene.
It should moreover be understood that the foregoing description has been given only by way of example and that it in no way limits the field of the invention from which one would not depart by replacing the execution details described by all other equivalents.
