Abstract

The invention relates to the use in cosmetic products of extracts of mucus or of digestive juice of gastropods. These extracts chiefly contain native or partially hydrolysed glycoproteins. These extracts are prepared according to a method employing a combination of a series of filtrations, an exclusion chromatographic procedure and, where appropriate, a partial enzymatic hydrolysis. The end products contain 0.1 to 10 % of these extracts.

GASTEROPODS AND PREPARATION OF THESE EXTRACTS.

Les substances possédant une action hydratante à la surface de l'epi- derme presentent un très grand intérêt pour le cosmétologue.Substances with a hydrating action on the surface of the epidermis are of great interest to the cosmetologist.

Parmi ces substances figurent en très bonne place les glycoprotéines qui possèdent une capacité de rétention d'eau élevée due principalement à la présence de leurs résidus glycosylés.Among these substances are prominently glycoproteins which have a high water retention capacity mainly due to the presence of their glycosylated residues.

Des glycoproteines sont présentes en tres grandes quantités, sous la forme d'enzymes variées (protéases, estérases, sulfatases, glycosidases...) dans le suc digestif des gastéropodes. La méthode de la présente invention permet de réaliser l'extraction et la purification de ces glycoproteines à l'échelle industrielle. Elle comporte les phases suivantes - Le mélange de mucus et de sucs digestifs d'escargots est récupéré après
le "dégorgement" des animaux. Il est' immédiatement congele pour le
