L'entrée du circuit convectif de la double paroi peut etre obstruée mécaniquement lors des ouvertures de porte pour les systèmes destinés à produire du froid. Le choix de la température de fusion du stock permet également d'autoréguler l'hygrométrie du local à conditionner. La diminution de la consommation est surtout liée à la position du stock au centre de l'enceinte, loin de ltenveloppe mais aussi à la diminution de l'écart de température entre stock et température utile de l'enceinte, améliorant ainsi la valeur du coefficient de performance du process dans le cas de machines trithermes ou plus.
