Abstract

This apparatus allows the state of pigmentation of the skin to be measured in order to determine the type of protective cream to be applied. It comprises a probe 1 for picking up data from the epidermis producing a localised illumination, connected to a measurement unit with a point display using light-emitting diodes analysing the reflected light density. The probe for picking up data is a cylindrical opaque body 1 containing a light source 5 embedded in a translucent insert 4 and a photoresistant cell 6 housed in a cavity 9 which is made opaque and opens at an annular feeler 3 provided at one of the ends of the body 1.

On sait que pour obtenir une protection efficace de l'épi- derme et un bronzage rapide, il est indispensable d'enduire de crème la peau exposée au rayonnement ultra-violet. On a donc imaginé, selon l'invention, un appareil simple, pratique et rationnel, susceptible de mesurer l'état de pigmentation de la peau pour déterminer le genre de crème bronzante à appliquer sur chaque type de peau, afin d'obtenir non seulement un bronzage rapide dans tous les cas, mais égale- ment une protection efficace de l'épiderme. Claims

1 - Apparatus for measuring the state of pigmentation of the skin to determine the kind of protective cream to be applied, characterized in that it comprises a probe for taking information on the epidermis providing localized illumination, connected to a unit of measurement with punctual display by light-emitting diodes analyzing the density of reflected light.

2 - Apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that the information acquisition probe is an opaque cylindrical body (1) containing a light source (5) embedded in a translucent insert (4) and a photoresist cell (6) housed in a cavity (9) made opaque opening at an annular feeler (3) provided at one end of the body (1).

3 - Apparatus according to claims 1 and 2, characterized in that the probe (1) is connected to the measurement unit by a spiral cable containing the electrical supply and transmission conductors and comprises a switch (7).

4 - Apparatus according to claim 2, characterized in that the annular feeler (3) is of rubber slightly harder than the skin.

5 - Apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that the measurement unit comprises nine light-emitting diodes corresponding to nine operational amplifiers wired in open loop to operate as comparators, each diode being placed between the outputs of two consecutive comparators .

6 - Apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that the photoresist cell (6) is placed between ground and the midpoint of a bridge consisting of a resistor and said cell for obtaining a voltage conversely proportional to the amount of light received.
