Abstract

A silicone type water rejecting insulation liq. is put into holes drilled in the masonryafter fine mesh cotton tubing already impregnated with the liq. has been placed in the holes. The tubing is curved at the interior end of the drilled holes. The tubing is impregnated by soaking it in the liq. then drying it. To determine the rate at which the liq. seeps through the mesh into the masonry, the mesh is expanded for a short period before the start of the insulation work by putting excess pressure on the mesh.

Description

The present invention relates to a device for isolating masonry or the like from moisture, a liquid insulating medium rejecting water, preferably an insulating liquid of the silicone type then being placed in da; blind holes.

To form in the masonry of buildings without a moisture barrier layer, a water rejection zone, it is usual to provide holes in the masonry in which a liquid insulation means rejecting water is incorporated. In the Austrian patent N "253 178, a device is represented for this purpose, the blind holes being then sealed towards the inside by a pressure tube during the incorporation of the means of insulation. The means of insulation is however absorbed with a different speed from hole to hole and from tile to tile or through the mortar. Consequently, in most of the cavities and cracks present inside the masonry, part of the insulation means flows ineffectively , so that it results in more use thereof than is necessary and that one cannot achieve the desired horizontal distribution of the insulation means.

It is known to avoid this drawback of introducing perforated tubes into the holes in which the insulation means is placed. The passage of the insulation means can then be prevented or completely eliminated by the clogging of the holes of the holes.

It has therefore already been proposed to provide the perforated holes with a porous envelope of open-pored foam rubber or of plastic material of the foam type.

The insulation means can then exit by capillary effect, even during a possible clogging of the pores in the vicinity of the surface of the envelope, in a sufficient quantity and uniformly over the entire surface. The superfluous flow of the insulation means into the cavities cannot however be prevented.

According to the present invention, this drawback is eliminated by introducing into the blind holes casings of impregnated fabric, preferably cotton with fine mesh.

Thanks to the fabric, the surface tension is felt and fights against the passage of the insulation means. The pressure of the insulation liquid in the fabric hose is chosen so that due to the surface tension, no liquid or almost no liquid comes out at places, through the fabric, where there are cavities in the masonry, which means that there is no contact between the masonry and the fabric (tent canvas effect). Conversely, upon contact of the quenched fabric of insulation means with the masonry, the surface tension is reduced, so that the insulation means then leaves or is more transferred to the masonry.

It is further advantageous that the effective contact face with the masonry is important because of the flexibility of the fabric hose. By bending over the internal end of the hole, the fabric hose can be adapted in a particularly simple way to the length of the blind hole. The liquid outlet is then considerably stopped or even entirely stopped at the point of curvature.

The impregnation of the fabric hose preferably takes place by soaking it with the insulating medium and by subsequent drying before first using the fabric hose. The impregnation then consists of a dried insulation medium, a silicone type insulation liquid being particularly used.

Finally, when using the device according to the present invention to isolate masonry, one can proceed in such a way that at the beginning of the insulation of the masonry, the mesh of fabrics of the hoses to determine the flow of insulation medium during the subsequent insulation process. This gives an accelerated exit from the insulation means depending on the nature of the masonry.
