Abstract

Crate comprises a bottom grid with upward ribs to define compartments for the lower ends of the bottles, and side walls with openings which leave the top rails to serve as carrier handles. The outer faces of these rails are flush with the remainder of the side walls whilst their inner faces are provided with a bead along their upper edges and their lower edges are inwardly curved and may form the upper portions of the inwardly projecting boundary edges of the openings. The longitudinal walls may each have two openings separated by an inwardly projecting vertical triangular-section hollow member integral with that wall and with the central bottom rib. (FL)

Description

 Plastic bottle rack.

 The invention relates to a plastic bottle rack with a grid-shaped bottom, in which tall spacers form compartments for receiving the lower parts of the bottles, and with hollowed out side walls, the upper side members of which serve as handles.

 The bottle racks or transport racks for plastic bottles have given good results, and they have completely supplanted the wooden racks commonly used in the past. They had the advantage of being robust, weather resistant and light and in particular easy to clean and handle.

 Known transport cases, however, have the drawback on the one hand of requiring a quantity of plastic material which is nutilely high, therefore of being heavier than is necessary, and also of not being able to be produced as economically as this would be possible under optimal conditions. On the other hand, they have the ir.ccr.vénlent that the molds used for their manufacture are very complicated, costly and therefore also sensitive to disturbances, that their production rates remain relatively long and furthermore that, when cleaning them, in the grooves etc., cleaning liquid which must be removed at great cost, or is removed from the edges or the like after evaporation.

 The invention therefore relates to a bottle rack or a rack for transporting bottles which no longer has the above-mentioned drawbacks and which can be worn in a particularly favorable and easy manner, even with one hand.

 The bottle rack must also be easy to manufacture, the mold for its manufacture must be able to be constructed economically and be able to work quickly and safely, the weight of the bottle rack must be particularly low and its stability particularly high, that is, its use value must be particularly favorable.

 The bearing properties must not only be advantageous when lifting the rack, but also allow a secure hold of the hanging rack in one hand, tilted to the side.

 This object is achieved in accordance with the invention with the compartments previously mentioned, in that the longitudinal members consist of a rib aligned on the outside wall plane, the upper edge of which has a bulge directed inward and the edge of which lower ends in a rounded interior.

 The transport rack for plastic bottles has two walls on the long sides 4 and two walls on the short sides 5, which form a single piece with a bottom 11. The bottom 11 is in the form of a grid and has a number of ribs which , on the one hand, stiffen it, and on the other hand form compartments to receive the lower parts of the bottles.

 The lateral walls LI and 5 consist of smooth plates pierced with openings, edges being present in the region of the openings.

 In the walls of the short sides 5 are respectively arranged a gripping opening 7 and in the walls of the long sides respectively two gripping openings 6, which terminate upwards by carrying beams 1.
