Abstract

The tube is held in a frustrum-shaped housing with supple tongues to pack it firmly in position. This inner housing fits into a rectangular outer box. Snap-lock catches fasten the sections together. A rectangular front panel fits as a frame over the end of the tube. The main bit has a two-section male hinge around which swivel female hinge cups. A front plate carries a key-board which swings down, pivoting on the hinge, when the T.V. monitor is in use. Both outer cover and keyboard have interlocking hinge sections. When not required, the keyboard section rotates into the closed position using a hook fastener. The inside of the hinge mechanism carries the data cable from the keyboard to the electronics cards inside the set so that no external cables are required to link the keyboard and monitor. Internal circuit cards are mounted vertically either side of the cathode ray tube.
