Abstract

The cover for the terminal posts of lead-acid accumulators is made up of two plastics half shells, the upper (1) and lower (2) being linked by a flexible strap (3) which serves as a hinge. The two half shells have a polygonal, for example hexagonal, perimeter, and the lower half (2) has a circular hole (4) to fit over the battery terminal post (5). The raised rim (6) around the edge of the hole fits over a shoulder section (17) surrounding the terminal post. A clip type fastening (7,8) holds the cover together, and facing cut-outs (12,13) in each of the two halves provide a passage for the battery cable. The shell is opened to allow fitting or removal of the battery cable, then closed to protect the terminal post and cable clamp.
