Abstract

The set temp. of one, or a group, of central heating radiators (5) is effectively lowered by placing an electric heating element near the temp. regulator valve, increasing the temp. seen by the regulator valve above room temp. This facility allows simple remote and timed programming of the periods of reduced temperature operation. The thermostatic regulator valve (3) is housed in a sealed enclosure (1) with an electrically heated resistance (4) placed in the working fluid (5). A controller (7) is fitted between the resistance and the incoming electric supply (10) to provide regulation and/or programming. The electrical heating power is supplied from the ac mains.
