Abstract

A woven fabric has holes of changing sizes in the weave structure, by changing warp density. Warp yarns are re-arranged by re-grouping in the reed, and the weave pattern changes from false gauze to basket weave, and from basket weave to plain weave as the holes diminish in size. The fabric structure is intended for fishing nets, in partic. for fishing elvers. Nylon monofilament yarns are used as warp and weft in the net of the example. The net is strong and quick to make, as seaming is maintained to a minimum.

Description

 The present invention relates to a variable mesh canvas for glass eel fishing.

 For glass eel fishing, it is necessary to have a frusto-conical net with meshes varying from 4 to 1.5 mm. Up to now, this result has been obtained by sewing one after the other 4, 3, 2 and 1.5 mm sieve strips, and the desired truncated cone has been made with the result obtained. The disadvantages of this system were a long manufacturing time and a fragility of the assembly due mainly to the seams in the most loose stitches which did not hold.

 The embodiment according to the invention makes it possible to avoid these drawbacks. In fact, the object of the present invention is to fabricate from a single seamless piece a canvas whose meshes range from 4 to 1.5 mm, simply by changing the density of the chain obtained by a different comb stitching, and a change of armor which groups the threads by three, by two or by one to obtain the meshes of the desired opening.

 As an example, we have warped a single strand Nylon 40 / rent over a width of 120 cm, and passes it through a comb of ten teeth per centimeter to the following arrangement - 1st strip: 3 threads in the same tooth, and 1 tooth full, 4 voids - 2nd band: 3 wires in the same tooth, and 1 solid tooth, 3 voids - 3rd band: 2 wires in the same tooth, and 1 full tooth, 2 voids - 4th band: 1 wire in teeth, and 1 full tooth, 1 empty tooth.

 We applied on the first two bands a false gauze weave of 3 threads which has the advantage of keeping well grouped the 3 warp threads and the 3 weft picks. For the third strip, we applied a 2/2 mat weave yes group the threads and picks by 2. In the fourth strip, we simply have a canvas weave which regularly distributes the threads and picks 1 by 1.

 We used a single strand 40 / nylon rental with a reduction of 6 picks per centimeter. The false gauze weave groups the picks 3 at a time in the first two bands, the braided weave 2 at a time in the third band, and the canvas weave distributes pick to pick in the fourth. We thus thus obtained - in the first band, 2 meshes with the centimeter in warp and weft, which gives us between the grouping of the 3 threads and the 3 picks, a mesh of 4 mm - in the second band, 2,5 meshes per centimeter in warp and 2 per centimeter in weft, which gives us meshes of 3 x 4 mm; - in the third strip, 3.3 stitches per centimeter in warp and weft due to the grouping by 2 threads, which gives a stitch of 2 mm approximately.

 - And finally in the fourth strip, due to the arrangement of the wires and picks per unit, 1.5 mm meshes.

 Figure 1 shows the transition from the false gauze armor to the 2/2 mat armor.

 FIG. 2 represents the transition from the 2/2 mat armor to the canvas armor.

 The embodiment, object of the invention, can be used for glass eel fishing.

Claims (4)

 1. Canvas with different mesh openings in warp and weft due to the use of weaves leaving the single threads, or grouping them in pairs, three, four, etc.  2. Canvas constructed according to claim 1 with in addition variation in the density or the size of the warp threads.  3. Canvas constructed according to claim 1 with in addition variation in the number of picks per centimeter, or their size.  4. Canvas constructed according to claim 1 with- variation of threads and picks according to claims 2 and 3.
