Abstract

Road materials are recovered and regenerated by recovering materials from the top traffic layer of highroads using a milling or scraping machine, hot or cold, and treating the materials 'in situ' or in a plant to restore their original properties. During mixing two dopes are added, one based on a regenerating prod., namely bitumen, and the other reestablishing the correct binder level to compensate for loss coased by ageing and to improve adhesion. The function of the two dopes is to deposit the mixt. of oil, resin and bitumen, without disturbing the existing structure, while restoring its plasticity and its adhesivity. The first dope whose function it is to regenerate the bitumen comprises 10% rosin, 30% anthracene oil and 60% fluidised bitumen. The second dope is a doped fluidised bitumen of variable penetration depending on the viscosity of the residual bitumen.
