Abstract

A 24V motor unit drives a toothed rubber belt coupled to the underside of a cabinet drawer so the drawer may be opened by a foot operated switch which drives the motor in one direction when operated and when released drives the motor in the opposite direction to close the drawer. The drive motor is mounted on a bracket beneath the drawer. The toothed rubber belt runs on toothed wheels, one attached to the motor and the other an idler wheel. The toothed driving wheel has a torque limiting friction coupling to the drive motor. The limiting torque is adjustable by screwing a knurled knob to increase the pre-loading on a spring washer. A foot operated switch is spring loaded to drive the motor in one direction when operated and in the other when released, so the drawer closes when the pedal is released.
