Abstract

Coathangers are moulded in two stages by first injection moulding a basic triangular structure, with a supporting hook and opt. ancillary strap hooks, from a rigid plastic moulding matl., and then overmoulding parts of the plastic structure with a rubbery material offering a relatively high coefficient of friction. The superficial shapes of the basic moulding, or holes therein, provide a more positive key for the overmoulded coatings than conventional designs involving dip-coating of wire frames, esp. where broad supporting surfaces are reqd. Opt. the core frame and the rubber coatings are of contrasting colours.
