Abstract

The dust cover or jacket for a book consists of two main panels (1,2) connected by a spine (9), each panel having three flaps, (3,4,5 and 6,7,8). Each panel has trapezium shaped flaps (3,5 and 6,8) top and bottom, and a rectangular end flaps (4 and 7). When used conventionally, the top and bottom flaps are folded inwards over the book covers and the end flaps are folded inwards on top of them. Alternatively one (e.g. 4) of the end flaps can be folded over the other (7) to hold loose leaves. One end flap includes holes (o) at the top, bottom and outside edges for securing tapes and elastic bands. In another method, the flaps can carry an adhesive so that the cover can be used as an envelope for postage.

Description

 The objects used to protect books, magazines, notebooks etc @ ... have in common the closest possible connection with the covers and to use welding or gluing processes. For music scores, these methods have the disadvantages of not allowing a good "sitting" on the desks, not allowing them to rest by all their lower edge and their thin and sharp edges can scratch the wooden desks, pianos .

 The present patent provides an improvement in that it overcomes the above-mentioned drawbacks.

The objects it intends to make available to the public should be inexpensive while having a much more elegant presentation. Or in addition to the same object can have several uses such as: filing folder, shipping envelope, packaging. for discs etc ...

The typical object consists of a film of paper, cardboard or transparent or non-transparent plastic. Two rectangular flaps (1 and 2) on which fold, for each of them, three nabats (3,4,5,6,7,8)

But, one of the lateral flaps (4 or 7) instead of covering the internal face of the covers, may be folded over the edges and come to apply on the external face of the other flap (for example, the flap 4 being applied to the external face of the flap 2 in the folded position).

Gluing the inner border of the side flap (4 or 7) folded to form a shirt, transforms it into a shipping envelope. Other systems can be used instead of gluing such as stapling, more elastic eyelets, plasticized twists, etc.
Used as a music partition protector, the object has several specific advantages. The partition is free in its envelope, finding its natural seat there, without the cover making wrinkles and without any traction being exerted on the binding. The lower edge, foam does not scratch; it slightly raises the whole score by adding it to the music stands in a vertical position, making the handling of the pages easier.

Preferably transparent and colorless plastic, it allows direct vision of the front and titles, but also that of the back cover. This is important because, for certain editions, a part of the score is printed there. The large lateral flap (4 or 7) extending over almost the entire surface of the back, the brightness is equal; it opens easily making annotation of the score by the musician, or his teacher, very easy.

Claims (9)
