Abstract

The formwork is of biodegradable material and is used on concrete products in the civil engineering field and in the construction and waste-treatment sectors. It meets the structural retaining function while the concrete sets, progressively disintegrating during the period over which specific crushing strengths obtain. The concrete is protected from aggressive elements during the curing period. A particular application is to sea walls where the shutter life protects the immature concrete from salt water attack, obviating the delayed striking of long-life formwork structures.
