Abstract

In the hand-operated unit to lead a yarn manually to a winding spool, to build up the yarn reserve for winding, there is a suction jet for the cut yarn end to start the winding. The jet is positioned in relation to the winding roller in a plane which is lower and standing at one side in a geometric vertical, at right angles to the axis of the winding roller close to one end of the roller. There is a hook fixed above the mantle of the winding roller directly behind the spool sleeve. This is held by the spool arms in the lower position, in the same plane to one side in the vertical. The hook has at least one loop to take the yarn section temporarily between the output roller and the jet. The loop lies in the zone directly behind the spool sleeve, as it lies on the winding roller, and above the axis of the sleeve when in position. The system allows a yarn end to be attached to a winding sleeve, easily and rapidly, without the need for a slit or projection on the sleeve to catch the yarn.
