Abstract

The external bone fracture setting device comprises a rigid tubular support (8) positioned along the limb, which has two sliding collars (9a,9b) mounted on it. The collars are screwed to the tube in the required positions and each has a recess carrying a ball joint. The spherical element of each joint is attached to a short tubular element (13a,13b). The short tubes carry an array of fixing pins (3) mounted in apertures along its length. The orientation of the pin mounting can be altered by altering the ball joint so that the pins enter the bone at the correct angle and the position of the sliding collars can be altered to put the fracture in tension or compression.
