Abstract

A cable junction box for telephone cables comprises two elongated half shells which are screwed together, and has a support ring (10b) at each end, made as part of the shell, which hold a sealing sleeve (9). This sleeve has a digitated truncated cone at each end to provide support for adhesive tape (14) which seals the junction between the sleeve and the cable. A cable clamp (25) protects the junction against mechanical shocks. A silicone compound is injected into the cable box through an inlet provided, a second hole being provided to allow air to escape. Grooves round the junction of the two half shells allow the sealant to pass round the edges and grooves in the support rings (22b) and holes (23) in the sealing sleeve (9) allow the sealant to enter the inside of the conical sleeve and provide further sealing in addition to the tape.
