Abstract

The machine picks up an integrated circuit from a store and positions it on a printed circuit board. The pick-up arm is capable of two axes of movement and is intended for production line use with linear or X-Y tables. Integrated circuits (7) are held in a store (1) which provides the required type of circuit as the assembly program demands. These are fed to the pick-up arm via a thirty degree ramp (2) to a holding table (3) also inclined at thirty degrees. The pick-up arm (5) has a claw end (6) which swings between set limits (11,11a) about an axis (8) to take up the circuit at the end of its travel. The arm can rotate (F1) through 360 degrees under the control of a position controller (9) and insets the circuit into the board (4) where its electrodes are folded over.
