Abstract
Coryogenic grinding of prods. to obtain a powder with the use of a cryogenic fluid for embrittlement of the prod consists of displacing the prod. in an elongated refrigeration zone comprising an upstream pre-cooling section and a downstream refrigeration second. The refrigeration prods. are fed to a grinder with circulation of grinding gas, of which an excess part is evacuated countercurrent through the pre-cooling zone. The cryogenic fluid is fed into the refrigeration section zone and flows in this section cocurrent with the products to the grinder, the gas being recirculation, a part in the refrigeration section. Another part of the gas is circulated in the refrigeration section cocurrent with the prods, while a remaining part is recirculated downstream of the refrigeration section in the pipe connecting this section to the grinder. The method of introducing the cryogenic fluid and of recirculating the grinding gas gives a higher thermal efficiency than that of existing installations. There is no need to introduce the cryogenic fluid into the grinder itself.
