Abstract

The union is for the outlet to atmosphere from the exhaust of an internal-combustion engine, being particularly for use when bench-testing or running in confined spaces. Opposite its end connected to the exhaust pipe (3) it has a set of flexible strips (5) round the periphery and converging towards their free ends. A ring (10) and chain (8) are provided for clamping the ends against the outlet pipe (6) inserted between them. Near the end fitted to the exhaust pipe is a union (7) allowing insertion of a pollution-detecting probe.
