Abstract

The parcels sorting unit comprises a conveyor which forms a vee-shaped trough. One side uses a flat belt (3), at an angle to the vertical, the other side of the vee is made up of free running rollers (5). The parcels are spaced along the conveyor by battens (9) fixed across the width of the belt at intervals. At selected points along the length of the unit are auxiliary conveyors (8b) and, depending on the destination coding of the parcel, sections (11b) of the rollers open to remove the parcel by gravity (17b).
