Abstract
The ampoule is of the hollow cylindrical type contg. granules intended to react with and indicate exhaled alcohol. The granules are sandwiched between the diametral, perforated screening discs. The ampoule has glass ends to be broken off prior to insertion in a breathalyser. A hollow, cylindrical ampoule body is held in a vertical position while its top end is fitted with a glass end which has an annular skirt fitting closely within and extending axially into the body. The body is inverted to bring the open end uppermost. A perforated screening disc is inserted and locates against the annular skirt of the fitted end. A measured dose of granules is dropped into the body to rest on the screening disc. A second screening disc is inserted to trap the granules between itself and the lower disc. A glass end is fitted at the top end of the body. As at the other end, the top glass end has an annular skirt which is pushed into the body to locate the upper screening disc. The ampoules are cheaply mass produced an can be inserted either way into the breathalyser.
