Abstract

A subscriber information terminal is connected in the telephone or other public information network, has a controlling microprocessor and memory (100) connected with a keyboard (60), a display screen (50) and a teleprinter (40). The microprocessor also controls an automatic dialling device (20) and modem (30) to which a standard telephone is connected. A loudspeaker (26) is connected to the dialling device (20) to indicate audibly connection or otherwise of a remote correspondant called by the terminal user. The memory (100) contains a number of microfiche each of which may relate to a possible remote information unitor correspondant who may be dialled automatically by the terminal on actuation through the keyboard (60). Preselected information may be transmitted or information received may be recorded and simultaneously displayed on the screen (50).
