Abstract

The modifier inserts an identification pulse signal into the vertical blanking intervals of a SECAM colour signal. The SECAM switching phase is determined from colour carrier quiescent frequencies transmitted in the horizontal blanking interval. The switching phase synchronises the sequence of oscillations of the identification pulse signals in the vertical blanking interval. These identification pulses have the frequency of the colour carrier. The modifier contains two signal generators (7, 8), two frequency dividers (5, 6), and a detector (4).
